Some of us didn’t get to play around with the Google Glass yet (me included) but Samsung is reportedly in the midst of making their very own glasses, dubbed as Galaxy Glass.
So now Google will have a new competitor this coming September when Samsung launch their new Galaxy Glass in Berlin during the IFA trade show. But the Galaxy Glass may be different than the Google Glass. Galaxy Glass may work only as a connection between your current smartphone to display any incoming messages or calls, or to display your location map if you’re lost somewhere. Google Glass is a fully functional Android device by itself, so is the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. So we have to wait and see the final product to know its full functionality.
“The new smart glass to be introduced by Samsung is a new concept of wearable device that can lead to an exciting culture of communication,” the unnamed official said, according to the report. “The smart glass will present our aim to lead the new market with proven capability. Wearable devices can’t generate profits immediately. Steady releases of devices are showing our firm commitment as a leader in new markets.”
No further detail was given about the Galaxy Glass’ hardware so far but one thing for sure is that Samsung will collaborate with another Samsung subsidiary, Samsung Display, in order to create the Galaxy Glass.
I have not tried the Google Glass yet. I would love to play around with it and to know how it feels and work the functions. I would think when the Galaxy Glass will soon start a trend when it’s launched to the public and knowing how Samsung fans are, this is a trend they won’t miss.
