Fitbit is currently the number 1 fitness tracker that you can wear on your wrist. It is currently the best selling fitness tracker in the world. But coming up close second right now is a well known brand in Malaysia, Xiaomi is playing the catching game on the track.
Xiaomi Mi Band 2
Xiaomi just launched the new Fitbit-like Mi Band 2 which is going to cost approximately less than RM100, or to be exact, RM90 in rough figure. At this price, Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is going to close up on Fitbit in terms of global sales.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 features a Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and is IP67 water and dust resistance. The silicone rubber band comes in many colour options to suit your attire any time of the day. It is packed with an OLED display, optical heart rate monitor and a 20-day battery life. If you’re using a Xiaomi smartphone, the band detects if it is connected to your Mi Band so that you don’t need to type your passcode. If someone steals your phone and the Bluetooth device gets disconnected, the passcode is reactivated.
This is the third version of the fitness tracker by Xiaomi. The first two, namely the Mi Band and Mi Band Pulse is cheaper than the new Mi Band 2. But the functions from the Mi Band 2 is way better because you can get notifications for calls and messages. Other than tracking your steps, it can also detects if you’re sitting for too long and will vibrate as though it is asking you to get up and walk.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 will officially be on retail in China on 7th June. No news yet as to when it will be coming to our shore. But don’t worry, I’ll keep you posted. Fitness tracker is not for everyone. That is why Xiaomi is offering it at a very affordable price.
