Air conditioning is not just about heating or cooling the air around you – it’s about refining the interior atmosphere

Samsung Electronics Malaysia today demonstrated its Wind-Free™ wall-mounted air conditioner – the AR9500M air conditioner, integrated with its Wind-Free™ Cooling technology. This modern and innovative product is designed to cater to Malaysians who often face the problem of hot weather. With the new cooling technology, Samsung aims to provide Malaysian customers a cooler indoor climate and optimal energy efficiency without the discomfort of direct cold airflow.

To cope with the scorching heat, many Malaysians will turn their air conditioners on full blast and at its lowest temperature of 16 degrees to achieve fast cooling when they enter their room or house after a long day out. With this practice, a lot of Malaysians experience the problem of ‘air conditioning sickness’ – staying in the same room due to the strong air from the full blast air conditioner, and also the constant extremely cold temperature.[i]

Samsung’s AR9500M provides customers with the ideal solution by maintaining a comfortable room temperature, using Wind-Free™ Cooling technology to gently disperse cold air through 21,000 micro air holes. Wind-Free™ Cooling is a two-step cooling system which first lowers temperatures in “Fast Cooling Mode”, then, automatically switches to “Wind-Free™ Cooling Mode” which creates “still air” once it reaches the desired temperature. This approach can also reduce energy consumption by up to 72% compared to Fast Cooling mode.

“Unregulated thermal comfort can affect the well-being, morale or physical health of a person.[ii] With this understanding, Samsung strives to provide Malaysians with an innovative solution through our Wind-Free™ technology, which produces gentle air spread evenly throughout the room, maintaining a comfortable temperature, without any unpleasant direct airflow,” Jimmy Tan, Head of Consumer Electronics Business of Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME).

Early last year, during the ASEAN Cooling Summit, a report resulted that air-conditioning systems claimed to consume 40 percent of the electricity in Southeast Asia by 2040 at the present rate of consumption.[iii] The increasing and ineffective usage of air conditioners could lead to the ‘overloading’ of the air conditioner, contributing to high electricity bills.[iv]

In line with energy-saving requirements, the AR9500M uses Samsung’s proprietary Digital Inverter 8-Pole with POWERboost technology™, which generates fewer torque fluctuations – reducing the overall energy required while shortening the time needed for the compressor to reach its maximum speed (Hertz).  Samsung’s world-first digital Inverter 8-Pole compressor consumes only 32% of the energy used by conventional air conditioning models, saving 68% of energy usage. It maintains the desired temperature without having to frequently turn on and off, hence, create lesser noise (quieter), while being more durable and efficient.

Not only that, the AR9500M’s unique Triangle Architecture has a wider inlet which allows more air to be drawn in at once, while boasting the optimal width and angle of the outlet, extra v-blades, and large fan – 22% larger than previous models. The fast-cooling feature cools the air 43% faster. It also ensures air is cooled and expelled faster, farther, and wider – reaching every corner of the room.

    Samsung Wind-Free Cooling Technology

Enabled with the Smart Control WiFi, the AR9500M can be controlled anywhere through Samsung’s Smart Things app. Users can remotely regulate the temperature, adjust settings, receive real-time updates about the air conditioner’s performance and daily energy usage, as well as troubleshoot solutions when a repair is needed. This is also part of Samsung’s commitment in introducing the smart living concept to Malaysian homes – to create a modern, fast and convenient, as well as innovative stay-at-home experience to Malaysian families.
