The esports, tech and geek communities all found themselves gathered for a two-day community gathering at serverDNA-IV from the 28th – 29th of September. It was the largest event of its history that was organised by serverDNA & E-Sports Kuala Lumpur Association (ESKL).
Throughout the weekend, attendees were greeted with engaging activities such as community talks, streamers gathering, cosplay competitions and booth exhibitions. Attendees were encouraged to visit major sections of the event in order to score points that contributed to their lucky draw chances.
Key industry leaders from Intel, Seagate, InWin Malaysia and over 100 consumer brands shared their thoughts and experience when it comes to marketing within the region of Malaysia and beyond. On the other hand, streamers were also encouraged to invite their fans and conduct meet & greet sessions at the Ramp-Up section of the event.
The cosplay community also celebrated for the official announcement of the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) 2020. The cosplay event’s roots can be traced back to Osu, Nagoya and has grown to include over 36 countries from around the world including Malaysia.
Tech enthusiasts were also treated with high-profile exhibitors including Predator, Republic of Gamers (ROG), Aorus, and many more. Attendees were engaged and challenged to multi-platform games including racing simulators, virtual reality, PC, and console.
The Kuala Lumpur E-Sports Masters tournament announcement took place on the second day of serverDNA-IV. It was officiated by the Minister of Federal Territories, Khalid Abdul Samad, who expressed his hope for esports into the future.
“With a prize pool of RM1 million ringgit, this will be a prestigious event for all esports enthusiasts in Kuala Lumpur. There will be 5 categories of the tournament including, e-racing, console, PC, mobile, and virtual reality.”
Rupern Chiu, founder of serverDNA commented on this year’s outcome as a positive step in the right direction for the Malaysian communities (tech & geek). He said, “We are here today because we acknowledge that pockets of communities that we see here, exist and we as leaders of our industry, are responsible in building a strong foundation that will set the standards of future events to come.”
President of E-Sports Kuala Lumpur Association, Hisham Darus believes that serverDNA-IV has made an impact on esports fans and enthusiasts. “The initatives by serverDNA-IV to support and provide assistance in the development of esports has accelerated our momentum for growth. We would like to thank and congratulate Mr. Rupern Chiu and his team at serverDNA-IV for this momentous collaboration and opportunity” he said.
This year’s event saw the strongest attendance of the event organiser’s history with more than double the attendees and registrations received as compared to serverDNA 3.0 in 2018.
serverDNA-IV is a community-first event which celebrates all things tech and geek. The event happenned on the 28th & 29th of September at Le Meridien Putrajaya. Main highlights include esports tournaments, cosplayers, tech developers & key industry leaders. The event is open to the general public and is free of charge.
