I received the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip a few days ago for full review and testing. My first impression of the phone is that it is definitely a head turner. The unit that I received is the Mirror Black colour which I think is really gorgeous. Although it says black, it has some blueish hue to it when you look at it from different angles.
The Z Flip looks really good when folded. I keep it at this state most of the time because it look and feels good in my hands. The feel when opening and closing the phone also brings much satisfaction. I can’t remember how many times I open and close the phone when I first got it.
The AMOLED display works as well as the other flagships by Samsung even when it is using a different material for the screen and not glass. The flexible and foldable dynamic AMOLED display looks good and because it is folded upward (or downward) across it’s height, the crease is not as obvious as the one on Galaxy Fold. And truthfully it looks really elegant. It also has a small 1.1″ secondary AMOLED display on the front shell, right next to the dual camera setup.

Powered by Snapdragon 855, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, this is actually one mean device. It may look fragile, but the power that comes within is something not to be messed with. Gaming is certainly awesome on this baby. I know because I have got a few chicken dinners with the Z Flip already. When open, the display is considered tall and slim. Therefore when viewed horizontally for gaming, I am viewing it in extra wide angle display. This is awesome for gaming. And that crease in the middle, can’t see it at all while gaming.
So these are just the tip of the iceberg. I still have much to try out and review on this Galaxy Flip. I have not fully tested the camera yet. And I have not fully tested the overall daily use for normal stuffs yet. Those will be explained in my full review.
Having said that, come back to this site in another week for my full review of this elegant Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Have a good weekend, stay safe and stay healthy.
