XOX Bhd and Macpie Bhd are paving their way into the e- sports scene this year by organising the XOX Unity League tournament series. Popular battle royale game PUBG, would be the first mobile game in the series, with many other games lined up throughout the year 2021. For this tournament, the prize money offered would be up to RM140,000.

XOX Unity League will be a platform that focuses on creating online ecosystems commercially for gamers, enabling gamers to come together as one to be competitive in the world stage. XOX, a telco brand in Malaysia, recognise the rising participants in the e-sports scene locally during the Covid pandemic. E-athlete participation around the globe has risen and e-sports have also been the highlight in SEA games in 2019. XOX wants to play a role in encouraging youth to continue pursuing their path in gaming while convincing guardians that gaming is one of the industries young talents can embrace as the world moves into digitalisation.
XOX is also looking to broaden its scope of providing digital content, in what would be its first step to create an entire sub-ecosystem of revenue generation leveraging off its existing mobile network, digital media, e-wallet and marketplace infrastructure. Macpie, a premier events management company in Malaysia, will organise & create all the digital platforms and engagements in the setup of XOX Unity League. Registrations are open now and the first mini tournament will kick off on 16 January 2021 comprising of the Northern region heat which includes Penang, Perlis, Perak and Kedah.
Then, the regional heats will go on to other states in Malaysia including Southern region heat on 23 January in Johor, Melaka & Negeri Sembilan, Central region heat on 30 January in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor & Putrajaya, finally ends in Borneo heat, comprising of Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan on 7 February 2021. The grand finale of the tournament is scheduled to be held on the 28 March 2021.
The executive director of Macpie Bhd, Mr Koo Kien Keat said that Macpie will embrace digitalisation by expanding its offering, from concert and events organisation to creating on demand digital content for the youth in Malaysia.
