Previously, I have tested and reviewed many smartwatches. I love watches, and I love smartwatches too. I don’t remember a day that I don’t have a watch on my wrist, perhaps only when I’m in the shower or when I’m asleep. That also depends on the type of smartwatch I’m using.
Little that I know about this particular brand. A brand called Blitzwolf from China. After this article, I’m sure most of my readers will start to know more about this brand because I’m about to tell you guys about my full review on their new addition to its smartwatch market, the Blitzwolf BW-HL3 smartwatch.
First Impression
The Blitzwolf BW-HL3 is an improvement to the older HL2 version that brings better functionalities and overall looks. I received the Blitzwolf BW-HL3 from Banggood.com, a large online marketplace based in China that to my astonishment, have a huge array of cool products ranging from gadgets to smart appliances and many other nifty stuffs. It is now my go-to China based marketplace to look for cool gadgets.
Anyway, the Blitzwolf BW-HL3 arrived at my doorstep about a week and a half after the order was made, which is pretty good and reliable. The packaging is nicely bubble wrapped and placed in a sturdy box. So that receives a big plus point from me.
Now we have a look at the watch itself. It comes in a simple designed box, actually it’s not much of a design. Just the model name in the middle and that’s about it. But don’t let the box mislead you into thinking it being a mediocre product. As they say, don’t judge a book by its cover.
In the box, the first thing you will see is the watch. I was amazed at the build quality of the Blitzwolf BW-HL3 smartwatch. And the watch strap is really good looking. It feels premium. The faux leather feels soft to the touch at the top but at the bottom, the material is silicone. It feels very comfortable while having it on my wrist.
As you can see, the watch itself seems a little thick, but that’s fine with me. And it feels really light too. I hardly feel it on my wrist. Most of the time I even forgot that I have a watch on my wrist. Build quality is strong and yet they made it light and durable. My first impression of the watch? I love it.
There is also the charging cable in the box that uses magnets to attach the charging ports at the back of the watch. The magnets are strong enough to hold up the watch which is good. And you don’t have to worry about charging it wrongly or at the ports because the magnet polarity will always rejects the wrong direction (positive vs negative ports). Other than that, you will find some warranty documentations along with quick manuals for the watch.
To start using the Blitzwolf BW-HL3 smartwatch, you will have to download an app called Gloryfit on your Android or iOS phone. Pairing the watch and the phone takes only a few minutes. The process is very easy as the app will detects the watch immediately and you will only have to turn on your Bluetooth. All can be done in a jiffy. This is another plus point for the Blitzwolf product.
UI/UX
Turning on the watch is easy. Simply press the dial on the side for 5 seconds and it’s on. Now, the UI/UX for the watch is pretty simple. First page will be the watch face, which can be changed by touching the face for 5 seconds. If you wish to have a new watch face, you can always download and sync it from the Gloryfit phone app. They have a plethora of watch face design available. Simply choose one and sync away.
Swiping left will reveal the pedometer stats that includes Steps, Distance and burned calories. The next screen will measure your current heart beat. Simply stay on this screen for it to automatically measure your heart’s BPM. This data will also sync with the app on your phone. The next screen is to measure your blood pressure. I am a little curious with this function. I don’t know how accurate is the measurement but for the benefit of the doubt, I’ll take it as it is. Nevertheless, it is a good function to add in a smartwatch.
Moving on to the next screen we can see the blood oxygen level. Also, I don’t know how accurate this is but I’ll take it as it is. Swiping further left will bring you to the exercise screen. From here you can choose the type of fitness exercise that you want to complete. This will also be recorded in the phone app.
Further swiping will bring you to Weather, Message, Stopwatch, Find, Sleeping Time, Settings and finally back to the main watch screen. As for quick access, swipe up to access messages overview and swipe down to get to the quick settings functions. It will also do the basic smartwatch functions like message notifications, call alerts, alarms and also health/fitness.
In my opinion, the look and feel of the UI is pretty simple. The graphics are fairly good looking, which I think it can be better. But the responsiveness is good and smooth. Scrolling through pages and messages is fast so that is another plus point. On the other hand, the typeface used for the messages is not to my liking. If only they can use (or update) to use a sans based typeface instead of Times New Roman type of font. It looks weird. Just very weird. And does not match with the rest of the UI design.
Come to think of it, it is very seldom that I take this watch off, only when I take a shower. But mind you, this Blitzwolf BW-HL3 is IP68 waterproof certified. Only reason that I don’t want to get it wet is because of the watch strap. It’s too nice to be ruined. On the other hand, the watch strap uses a quick release clasp so you can also get a spare watch strap of the same size from Banggood.com.
I use this watch to measure my sleep as well. Sleep measuring is fairly accurate. It records my sleep throughout the night for light sleep, deep sleep and awake. The full data for this can also be viewed in the Gloryfit phone app. It is something good to have if you want to measure your sleep time and making sure you have a good sleep schedule. It will also advice you to sleep early when you’re up too late.
The Blitzwolf BW-HL3 uses a 180mAh built-in battery that charged up to 100% in less than an hour from 15%. On full charge, it can last up to 6 days on daily use and more than 15 days on standby. This is a bonus point for those who don’t have much time to wait and always on the move.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a cheaper option when it comes to smartwatches, the Blitzwolf BW-HL3 is a good option to start with. The design is nice, the functions are good, it is easy to setup and pair, the app is intuitive and the price is right.
It also feels stylist and it looks good. Go ahead and purchase some additional 22mm watch strap from the marketplace to pair it with this smartwatch. It will look better in different colour straps too. It’s good to mix and match to your liking and according to your fashion sense.
For the price you pay and what you will get from the smartwatch, it will be worth your purchase. You can head over to Banggood.com right now to get one for yourself.

[…] The ZeBlaze Ares came in a small box with simple design and straight forward key descriptions. No fuss when it comes to the box design, so I don’t mind the simplicity of it. No fuss here means that it only comes with a plastic mold to hold the smartwatch on the inside. a USB charging port and the instructions manual. I don’t actually read the manual here but I only scanned the QR code at the back to download the accompanied phone app for the watch called, Gloryfit. Fyi, this is the very same app for another smartwatch that… Read more »
