HUAWEI has recently teased the global arrival of its next-generation foldable smartphone, the HUAWEI Mate X2 on February 22, 2021. This is the brand’s third generation foldable smartphone following the launch of its predecessors and hints at a refreshed design and an upgraded performance.
With 88 approved patents related to foldable displays, HUAWEI aims to strengthen its position as the leading brand for foldable smartphones. Some of the patents include HUAWEI’s take on horizontal folding device, a folding mechanism with hinges set in the opposite direction – making the device fold inwardly, a horizontal fold with a bezel at the top that allows for an ultra-slim screen and more.
In 2020, HUAWEI launched the Mate Xs, HUAWEI’s first 5G edition foldable phone. It is powered by the unrivalled Kirin 990-5G SoC chipset with 7nm+EUV technology and is fuelled by a 4500Ah battery that supports HUAWEI’s 55w superfast charging technology.
The upgraded Falcon Wing hinge allows the phone to seamlessly stretch out from a folded 6.6-inch smartphone into a totally flat 8-inch tablet. Using super-resilient space-grade materials the Mate Xs’ OLED Fullview display screen promises a fully immersive user experience.
