inDriver, one of the world’s most popular ride-hailing apps has officially begun operation in Malaysia, offering its unique ride-hailing service where passengers and drivers can independently negotiate the fare of a ride.
inDriver ride-hailing service is currently available in Penang, Alor Setar, Sungai Petani, Ipoh, Taiping, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu, Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Bintulu and Kota Kinabalu. The company is also planning to make their service available in the Klang Valley soon.
Egor Fedorov, Chief Operating Officer of inDriver said that the company is very proud to be able to introduce its unique and innovative approach in offering ride-hailing service to Malaysia.
“Today marked a very meaningful milestone for us as we start our journey of improving the way we access ride-hailing service in Malaysia. inDriver firmly believes ride-hailing should be accessible, affordable and flexible. By allowing our users to independently determine and agree to the terms of a ride, we are able to combat algorithms used by other ride-hailing companies that increase ride prices due to peak hours, traffic conditions and request history.
It also delivers greater freedom of choice to our users and this is especially important today as we continue to face challenges and uncertainties,” he added.
The app boasts a feature called Real-Time Deals (RTD) which allows passengers to make a ride request by offering a reasonable fare. Nearby drivers will then receive the request notification and they have the freedom to accept the offered fare, ignore the offer, or bargain for a better price.
inDriver is also unique in the way that drivers are not automatically assigned to passengers. Passengers will receive counter offers from nearby drivers and they can select the most suitable driver that meets their preferences – fare, driver’s rating, estimated time of arrival, or vehicle model.
Meanwhile, in order to ensure the safety of both drivers and passengers, the inDriver app provides the feature to share users’ GPS location and ride details in real-time with trusted contacts. In addition, the app incorporates an emergency button that will connect passengers or drivers directly with law enforcement agencies in case of emergency.
inDriver has been steadily growing globally, despite facing extreme challenges due to the on-going COVID-19 situation affecting the entire world. The unique ride-hailing app recorded impressive milestones this year, where the company completed 1 billion rides worldwide in June and surpassed 100 million app downloads worldwide on Android and iOS platforms in September.
