ASUS today announced that ZenWiFi AX Hybrid (XP4), a dual-band WiFi 6 (802.11ax) powerline mesh router system with HomePlug AV2 MIMO backhaul capability, is now ready to make its market debut.

ZenWiFi AX Hybrid is capable of combined WiFi 6 speeds of up to 1800 Mbps. It also incorporates HomePlug AV2 MIMO powerline technology, which can deliver backhaul connections of up to 1300 Mbps between the main router and the mesh nodes, using the standard domestic electrical wiring system. This hybrid technology ensures fast and reliable WiFi signals throughout the entire home, with estimated coverage up to 5500 square feet.

Unlike rival systems, ZenWiFi AX Hybrid allows completely flexible placement of the nodes, as they only need to be connected to a power outlet in order to establish a backhaul connection.

This makes it very easy to deploy, even for inexperienced users. The system is also easy to set up and manage, with a simple three-step setup procedure along with intuitive network configuration and management via the ASUS Router app.

In the home, Commercial-grade network security with advanced Parental Controls is provided by lifetime free AiProtection Pro, powered by Trend Micro^™, and outside the home ASUS Instant Guard makes any public WiFi connection secure with a VPN connection to the router.

Ideal for overcoming thick walls

ZenWiFi AX Hybrid continues the mission of the award-winning ZenWiFi series, which is to banish dead WiFi zones and provide fast, reliable whole-home WiFi coverage. In particular, ZenWiFi AX Hybrid provides a solution to the problem of poor WiFi backhaul connections caused by thick or metal-reinforced walls and other obstacles to wireless signals.

With fast HomePlug AV2 powerline technology, domestic electrical wiring can be used to deliver a full-speed backhaul connection between the main router and each node. HomePlug AV2 uses MIMO and beamforming technologies, with special signal techniques that greatly increase the available bandwidth over electrical circuits to 1300 Mbps, almost twice as fast as the previous HomePlug standard.

This makes it ideal for the backhaul connection between the main router and each node: ZenWiFi can be easily configured to prioritize powerline for the backhaul connection, or automatically choose the best type of connection — WiFi 6, wired gigabit Ethernet or powerline — depending on the environment.

Manual selection is also possible. With its powerful WiFi 6 speeds of up to 1800 Mbps, combined with these versatile backhaul options, ZenWiFi AX Hybrid enables effortless whole-home coverage for areas of up to 5500 square feet.

Flexible placement and hassle-free setup

Despite its powerful connectivity and rich features, ASUS ZenWiFi AX Hybrid can be set up and configured by anyone, even those with limited technical knowledge. Powerline backhaul technology means that the node can be placed almost anywhere there’s a wall socket, with no need to worry about WiFi transmission between the node and the main router.

The easy three-step setup procedure using the free ASUS Router app allows users to get their whole-home WiFi network up and running in just a few minutes. Because the system supports ASUS AiMesh technology, the network can be extended even further using either additional ASUS ZenWiFi AX Hybrid nodes, or any AiMesh-enabled ASUS router.

Users can monitor network status via the app, and also tailor their WiFi network configuration to their individual needs: conveniently, they can choose a single SSID name for the entire network, or assign individual SSID names to each frequency band.

Always secure, everywhere

ASUS ZenWiFi AX Hybrid includes free lifetime network security with AiProtection Pro, powered by Trend Micro, with regularly updated security signatures that ensure protection is always up to date.

AiProtection Pro protects all connected devices, and provides an extra layer of security for personal data for families, or for business data when working from home. Built-in advanced Parental Controls allow users to monitor and schedule family members’ internet time with just a few clicks.

Outside the home, ZenWiFi AX Hybrid features ASUS Instant Guard to secure free public WiFi connections in coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, airports. With just a click, Instant Guard creates a private VPN data tunnel to the VPN server on the router, providing the safest possible public WiFi connection for the user.
