Recently launched on March 11th, the Huawei nova 9 SE is aimed for those who love to create online video contents. Just like the previous nova series model, it adopts a similar design but with much improvements and a better looking camera module.
On my first initial impression of the Huawei nova 9 SE, I fell in love with the camera module around the back. Not forgetting the beautiful and shiny Crystal Blue colour on the body and shell. But alas, it being shiny also means it is a fingerprint magnet, and a really bad one at that indeed. Nevertheless, it looks really good.

The new Huawei nova 9 SE is powered by a Snapdragon 680 SoC based on 6nm process, supported by 8GB of RAM and with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. It also comes with Android 11 and EMUI 12 installed but without Google Mobile Services. Users who purchase any branded phone by Huawei will be using Huawei Mobile Services instead. This means you can’t use any of Google’s services such as Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Google Play and a few others.
But don’t let that limitation put you down. You can still get an abundance of Android apps from Huawei’s own AppGallery. They have tons of apps that you can download and use, just like those on Google Play. But if you can’t find the apps you’re familiar with on Google Play, fret not, you can still install the apps via a 3rd party installer. So technically, you can still get everything you need on the Huawei nova 9 SE.

The best use for the Huawei nova 9 SE however is the camera, particularly on the video features. Vloggers will love the Huawei nova 9 SE and not forgetting those who love creating contents on TikTok. If you’re into vlogging, this phone is made especially for you.
Why? Because the Huawei nova 9 SE brings extra fun to the vlogging experience, thanks to its Dual-View Video feature, which users can simultaneously use the front and rear cameras with no editing required or which allow users to record videos indefinitely while simultaneously capturing a close-up shot and wide-angle-shot with the touch of a button.

The video capabilities of Huawei nova 9 SE are sure to impress. Most of the smartphones available in the market with single lens only allow users to capture videos without being able to swap cameras while recording. But this is not the case with the Huawei nova 9 SE.
As for the battery life, it comes with a 4000mAh battery that can easily last the whole day and probably more. What I like most about it is the 66 watt charger that came in the box to provide you with a super fast charging speed on Huawei’s SuperCharge feature that fills up to the max in just 40 minutes! That is fast and that is cool.
And in terms of performance, the Snapdragon 680 is a capable SoC that is able to render heavy graphics quite well. I have yet to fully test the overall performance of the Huawei nova 9 SE so I will leave that to my upcoming full review. But in the meantime, I will surely enjoy playing with this one.
Stay tuned for my full review in a week’s time. Meanwhile, watch the unboxing video of the Huawei nova 9 SE on my TikTok page below:
