Samsung Galaxy A53 5G Preview – Looking Better Than Before

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G was launched some time in late March 2022 and it has much improved from its predecessor, the Galaxy A52s. While having many improvements, it still looks the same with only some minor changes to the aesthetic design. But if you never held the A52s before, then you won’t even know the difference.

What I like most about the Galaxy A53 5G is the minimalistic design on the front, sides and the back. I love how the camera bump protrudes out just a little bit without having sharp edges. It has a slightly flatter back panel and feels nicer on the grip.

In terms of size, it is exactly the same as the A52s. Same goes with the camera setup at the back. Nothing much can be said when comparing the difference between the two. But that is all about external cosmetics.

Internally, it is a whole new world. While the A52s is powered by a Snapdragon 778G, the new Galaxy A53 is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 1280 chipset at 5nm processing as opposed to 6nm on the A52s. Storage and RAM are about the same with a minimum of 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage for the lower tier version, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for the higher tiers.

Battery capacity has been upgraded as well. From 4500mAh to now having 5000mAh battery capacity, you can be sure that it can last more than 2 days on a single charge, depending on how you use it. It still comes with the same gorgeous 6.5” Super AMOLED display.

This time, the Galaxy A53 5G comes with Android 12 with One UI 4.1 straight out-of-the-box but there will be a few security updates along the way. Nevertheless, the UI and UX of One UI 4 is very, very good. It is my favourite “launcher” for any Android phone. I have tested so many but I still find that One UI 4 to be the best at the moment.

There are more to be said in my full review. I am currently having a fun time taking photos with the A53 so there will be some good reviews for the camera performance. It is also a fun device to use for gaming, thanks to its dual speaker setup. More info on that soon.
