When I was following the progress for the new OPPO Find X5 Pro in their social media accounts and from some tech articles online, I was amazed at how it looked and the kind of meticulous craftsmanship being put into creating this gorgeous device. The scratch resistant ceramic back itself took 168 hours to build. In the end, the back surface is said to be twice as hard as glass.
Now that I have it in my hands to review, I can immediately “feel” the presence of an awesome flagship that will blow everyone’s mind especially when it comes to mobile photography. I have to say that I am absolutely in love with the rear camera bump that seamlessly blends with the back panel and the frame. And the OPPO logo is not alone near the bottom right. There is also the Hasselblad logo next to it that screams photography.
I am not sure whether this is a phone with an awesome camera system or an awesome camera system that also functions as a phone. I’d choose the latter. True enough, the new OPPO Find X5 Pro is made with photography in mind or simply to lure avid photographers into buying one. And with the debut of MariSilicon NPU for image processing, it will be the talk of the town in the coming months. Mind you, I am a photographer and I would like to use this device as my main photography gear from now on.
But alas, I’m only using it temporarily for my review.
With a great camera, comes a great display to show your art. The 6.7” LPTO2 AMOLED display along with its 1 billion colour display is gorgeous to look at. It also comes with a 120Hz refresh rate for that super smooth transition between pages. It is possibly one of the most gorgeous screens that I have tested so far. And with all the awesome colour display that has been calibrated by Hasselblad, you will be pleased with the results.
In terms of performance, the OPPO Find X5 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on the review unit. Keep in mind that only the Snapdragon variant comes with MariSilicon NPU image processor, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 variant does not have that. Also, the review unit in my hand comes with a 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. There’s no MicroSD card expansion on the OPPO Find X5 Pro but there’s a dual SIM card slot instead.
Throughout my initial testing, I am amazed by what the device can do. Photography is its main forte but handling my day to day tasks is made easy by the OPPO Find X5 Pro. All thanks to the powerful chipset and large RAM that supports it. Gaming on this device felt effortless. Super fast and smooth, that’s all I can say.
