The MoU outlines efforts to deliver high-quality, cutting-edge digital systems for public transit operations in Southeast Asia
Asia Mobility Technologies Sdn Bhd (“Asia Mobiliti”), a leading mobility-as-a-service solutions provider, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indonesian state-owned company PT Len Railway Systems (“LRS”) to advance the digitalisation of public transportation in Southeast Asia.
Under the terms of the MoU, both parties have agreed to collaborate to deliver high-quality and cutting-edge digital systems for the control, monitoring and management of public transit operations. This will be achieved by integrating products and services from both parties and to deliver this as part of a combined ‘turnkey’ solution to customers.
The cooperation not only brings the two countries together in an effort to increase bilateral ties but also serves as an opportunity for both companies to find synergies and leverage off each other’s respective areas of expertise. The MoU will also enable both companies to lead the way in digitalising public sector transportation amongst Southeast Asian nations.
Established in 2012 and a subsidiary of PT Len Industri (Persero), the Bandung, Indonesia-based LRS with its decades of experience is the market leader in the railway systems sector in Indonesia, with its products, engineering, and services.
Founded and based in Kuala Lumpur, Asia Mobiliti is an innovative technology startup, which designs, engineers and operates a platform of data products aimed at powering intelligent urban mobility.
The signing of the MoU between Asia Mobiliti and LRS took place on the sidelines of the Railway Solutions Asia 2022 Show being held at the KLCC Convention Centre.
“With close to 30 years of railway infrastructure experience, we are in the prime position to lead in modernising the transportation landscape not only in Indonesia but in Southeast Asia. This MoU represents the nexus of our railway infrastructure expertise and Asia Mobiliti’s information and communication technology know-how, a partnership
that we believe will drive positive changes within the region,” said LRS’ Sales & Marketing Director, Helarius Agung Suryantoro.
Asia Mobiliti Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder Ramachandran Muniandy said, “This collaboration is a huge milestone for us as it marks the beginning of our foray into the Southeast Asian region.
“Southeast Asia has huge economic potential with its market size, relatively young population and workforce, factors that could be further hampered by the lack of modern mobility infrastructure. With this MoU in place, we hope to be able to modernise the region’s public transport systems using innovative advanced digital technologies we will develop and deploy in partnership with LRS.”
Gopi Ganesalingam, Senior Vice President for Ecosystem Development at the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (“MDEC”), who witnessed the signing, welcomed the strategic MoU signed between Asia Mobiliti and LRS.
“As Malaysia’s lead agency in the digital economy, we are pleased to witness this MoU, which represents an important achievement for MDEC’s globalisation programme, GAIN (Gateway, Amplify, Invest, Nurture). The coming together of an established railway industry player and an innovative data-driven mobility platform startup will catalyse a thriving digital ecosystem in the region and we look forward to forming and facilitating more effective collaborations.”
