There have been a few monitors that I have reviewed recently and I find some of them to be the top-of-the-line products. Some are great for creative works, and some are made for gaming. But I recently came across another monitor that I think is suitable for everyday users like me, especially when it comes to writing and spending more time in-front of a monitor all day.
Introducing the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitor, model number GW2785TC to be exact. If you’re looking for a monitor that is easy on the eyes, but can be considered as an eye candy by itself, this BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitor should be on your buying list.
TL;DR
You can view the video below to have a look at the quick round-up of the BenQ Eye-Care Monitor:
BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitor Features
First of all, the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitor is almost bazel-less around the sides except the bottom area. This gives a great option to have not one, but two same monitors placed side-by-side. When doing so, you will immediately have a multiple monitor setup in your home office, putting you in the cool kids club.

The BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitor comes with multiple ports for connectivity. First, there’s the standard 3.5mm audio port, an HDMI in port, a DP in port, an HDMI out port and a USB-C port. I am so glad that this monitor supports USB-C because my laptop does not have any HDMI port.
Now, setting up dual BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitors does not require a splitter or an HDMI switch. This is where one of the greatest features by BenQ, in my humble opinion, comes into play. I set up the dual BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitors and have it connect to my laptop via USB-C port. From then on, I only need to connect both monitors via a Daisy Chain link, from one monitor to the other. This eliminates the need for an HDMI splitter or switch. Very cool indeed. The Daisy Chain will utilise the DP port linking the monitors from one another. Simply plug in the cable and you’re good to go.

What’s great about the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitor to have a USB-C port is that it will have a very fast audio and video delivery. 4K videos will play instantaneously coupled with high quality audio. To add the icing on the cake, connecting via the USB-C cable to my laptop automatically charges up the laptop too. The USB-C port supports up to 60W of fast charging. Brilliant!
Now, setting up both monitors is easy. The on-screen menu is very easy to navigate through but during the first few minutes, I do have to familiarise myself with it first. Once I have set up the monitors on the laptop, I carefully arranged both monitors to align with each other to make it look like I have one large wide screen monitor. Since the bezels are really thin, it blends almost seamlessly between the two. This is a perfect setup for a graphic designer, programmer and writer such as myself.

Screen resolution is set to 1920 x 1080 pixels at 75Hz with the brightness that goes up to 250 nits. It seems brighter than that to me but due to the Eye-Care system which reduces the blue light and flicker-free, it felt really easy on my eyes. The BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitor uses a non reflective display, which is exactly the type that I prefer. I don’t really like shiny screens. But because it is non-reflective, the text on the screen may have a very slight blurriness to it. It is looking good to me but certain texts at a certain size have that very slight fuzziness to it. Yet, I’m still okay with it.
You can also tilt the monitor up and down to your liking. It swivels left and right with minimal nudge while raising the monitor up or down is fairly easy. You don’t have to put too much force in order to adjust the monitor to your preferred alignment. You can also pivot the monitor 90 degrees in either direction to have it display the content in portrait mode. Good when you’re using the monitor to do some reading or logged in to a chat platform like Twitch or Discord while gaming.

There is also a cable management system at the back to properly organise the in and out cables behind the monitor. No more messy cables and hello to a clean workspace. This compliments the overall look and feel of the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor. An elegant designed monitor needs an equally well designed workspace.
Using the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor for creative work is an absolute joy. Screen is large enough to accommodate my usual Windows and having a dual monitor setup, everything got better. The BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor comes with Brightness Intelligence features and is able to adjust the screen brightness automatically depending on the ambient light in my room. It gets brighter when the room has more than enough light and goes dimmer when it’s darker. This is to reduce any eye strain when working in front of the monitor all day, everyday.

When working on any creative design work or video editing, you will be glad that the colour accuracy is quite on point. Colours are vibrant and the contrasts are just about right. I don’t have any tools to measure the colour accuracy but to my naked eyes, it is very close to the original.
It is also good to note that the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor has a built-in microphone so you can have Google Meet or Zoom calls with ease plus you can also plug in your own personal speakers via the 3.5mm audio jack around the back. The BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor also has built-in speakers for instant conference calls or for watching movies but don’t expect to get hard bass when listening to some EDM songs. The speakers are loud enough for you to hear vocals from a conference call or listen to some light music.

As an additional feature, you can install the Eye-CareU software in your PC or laptop that is attached to the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor. This software allows you to set the brightness and contrast, etc, easier by using the software. You can also set the screen time in the app to remind you to take a break from work. There are many other useful features in the app for you to choose from.
And to compliment the dual monitor setup, there is another device, or rather, accessories that you can use along with the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS Monitor. If you do a lot of reading, the BenQ ScreenBar can be an ideal partner to your new BenQ monitor. All you have to do is attach the ScreenBar to the top of the monitor and you’re good to go. The ScreenBar is basically an LED light setup that helps you with reading when the sun is low and the surrounding is dark. Of course you can turn on your room light but with the ScreenBar, it will help with the reading better.

How can the ScreenBar help with reading? It illuminates by adjusting the blue light or warm light automatically to suit the surrounding ambience. On the topside of the ScreenBar, there are touch sensitive buttons where you can toggle it on or off. One button is to manually set the LED to illuminate warm light and another to illuminate colder light (blue light). If you wish to have it done automatically, you can touch on the auto button instead. I find the ScreenBar to be useful when I have a book or document with me for reading. It’s pleasant on the eyes and the brightness is adjusted automatically too. There is also a light sensor on top of the ScrenBar when the automatic mode is in use.

Conclusion
To me, one of the main reasons to buy the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor is the eye-care feature as I will get eye strains when working for too long. The auto brightness setup is very useful to me and I’m glad that the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor is able to keep the brightness at its best level automatically depending on the ambient light.
At 27-inch, I think it’s an ideal size for a home setup especially for creative work. Gaming will be good since the frame rate can reach up to 75Hz. That would be a bonus for me but I do more creative design work and writing 80% of the time. And the ScreenBar helps a lot too. I would say that the ScreenBar is a must have accessory to go with the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor.
What I love most about the BenQ Eye-Care 27-inch IPS monitor is the ability to connect multiple monitors without using a switch or splitter. The Daisy Chain feature is probably my favourite, followed by the Eye-Care feature along with the Eye-CareU app. Another great feature is the connectivity with a laptop via USB-C port instead of HDMI. Using the USB-C port, the connection will also charge up the device it is connected to and I am very pleased with that. Therefore I don’t need to connect my laptop to any power source.

I am sold. This is probably one of the best monitors to get if you’re working at home. Since there’s a built-in microphone, Zoom meetings will be made easier. And I love the near bezel-less design. It has a rather minimalist look to it. Clean and simple, yet elegant.
