TREK2000. Remember that brand. Recently TREK have come up with a brand new wireless stereo called the TREK Re-YTHM TWS that comes with two extra features that you will find to be useful. And since it is a wireless earbud, I put it through some hard hitting music with lots of bass and drums to test out the quality.
Now, you may be wondering what are the two useful features on the TREK Re-YTHM TWS. First, there’s the drop and alert warning. The TWS will tell you when you drop one side of the earbud so that you will be able to pick it up. The second feature is the proximity alert. Say you moved away from your phone and in the end, you “lost” your phone along the way. With proximity alert, the earbuds will tell you that you’re away from the phone, preventing from you losing your phone.
It is a nifty feature to have since I have lost an earbud before. With the new TREK Re-YTHM TWS, I don’t have to worry about that again.

Features
The brand TREK2000 has been around for a very long time. It was founded by the maker of the first thumb drive ever made. Yes, it was a Malaysian who invented the thumb drive, now mostly known as flash drive. So I believe that their new TWS product like this TREK Re-YTHM will be a hit among local users. One of the reasons is its affordability.
The TREK Re-YTHM TWS is priced at only RM199, making it one of the best and affordable choices for a nice true wireless earbud. The TREK Re-YTHM TWS comes in a nice black box with the word Re-YTHM written right across the front. Inside the box, you will get the battery case that holds the buds.

The case comes with a built-in 500mAh battery which is quite ample for portability and to support long usage. It is good to note that the case supports wireless charging and is compatible with any Qi wireless charger. The charging indicator is located on the front side of the case. There’s three LEDs to indicate the charging state. The left LED is for the left earbud, the right LED is for the right earbud and the middle LED is the battery state of the case. Easy to know each state of the battery when it illuminates between red, amber and green light.

It can wireless charge up to 100% within an hour while charging by USB-C port will be faster. There’s the USB-C charging cable in the box along with the replacement silicone buds of different sizes. The earbuds are already fully charged when you purchase so that you can immediately pair it with your phone and start listening to some tunes.
Pairing is simple. Just fire up the Bluetooth settings on your phone and connect to the TREK Re-YTHM TWS. You’re done. To make things better, you can download the Re-YTHM app on your phone to take full control of the TWS. In the app, you can toggle the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on or have it on Transparent mode so that you can still hear sounds from your surrounding area.

The UI of the Re-YTHM app is a little old skool for my taste. I do hope that they can make the UI improvements so that it can have better UX for the users. Bottom line, just make it look good and pretty. On the other hand, all the functions and features are easy to access on the app. While it being old skool, it is pretty much straight forward with the settings. Toggling each feature like the ANC is easy. Just need to tap a button and it’s done. You can also control the volume with the slider near the bottom. On the next tab, you can set the equalizer to suit your liking. Like I said, very straightforward.
Audio Quality
As for the audio quality, there is much to say about it. First of all, I somehow prefer the “Rock” setting in the equalizer. To me, this has the most balanced audio setting. The highs sound great with enough clarity with the vocals while the bass is punchy enough for me to enjoy some hard bass EDM music.

My usual go-to song will be Metallica’s Enter Sandman with the hard hitting bass in the beginning of the song. With the TREK Re-YTHM TWS, the bass is about 80% to where it can be. It’s good, but not strong enough for me. I like it when it’s really punchy on the bass for certain songs. That gives me the full satisfaction to really enjoy the music. The TREK Re-YTHM TWS can do enough, but it’s not quite there for me.
Keep in mind that audio preferences will vary between users. Some may not like the strong bass and prefer the vocal clarity. I on the other hand love the strong bass. So with the TREK Re-YTHM TWS, there is always something for everyone.

Overall audio quality is something I can enjoy in the long run. The earbud fits snugly in my ear and it doesn’t fall off easily. If or when I go out for a run, I will take the TREK Re-YTHM TWS out with me as it is also sweat proof. As for call quality, the audio quality is great. I don’t even have to talk out loud for the other party to hear me. It picked up my voice really well. So if you’re always on the go, this TREK Re-YTHM TWS can be your mobile companion everywhere you go.
To conclude my review, I can say that I do like the TREK Re-YTHM TWS with its additional features such as drop alert and proximity alert. No more losing any TWS from now on. And to think that this TREK Re-YTHM TWS is very affordable makes it a great choice for anyone who is looking for a new wireless earbud. At RM199, it is a steal.
