Samsung recently launched their Z series a few weeks back and I immediately want to grab one for review, especially for the Galaxy Z Flip5. I have anticipated that the latest Galaxy Z Flip5 to be Samsung’s best and most improved version of a flip phone, even amongst its competitors. With a larger cover display and stronger Gorilla Glass Victus protecting the device on its front and back, it is probably the best looking flip phone we’re having at this moment.
And lucky me. I received a brand new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 for review and I am more excited than ever to share my first impression with you guys.
For the next 2 weeks, I am going to put the new Galaxy Z Flip5 to a test of daily use, performance, reliability, durability, gaming and battery endurance. Most of all, I will also test the camera features to find out if this compact device can be the best at everything I throw at it. Truth is, even after a couple of days using it, I’m already in love.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 variant that I received comes with 256GB of internal storage and with 8GB of RAM. I can also add up to an additional 8GB of virtual RAM to it, just like most of the Android devices that are released recently. These additional RAMs will take up the empty space from the storage and turn it into a virtual RAM to support the on-board RAM, thus increasing the device’s performance and optimising its overall stability. That is a good thing to have.
It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, which means that it is optimised for Samsung’s Galaxy series smartphones. It supposedly increases the performance and has better battery management by the chipset. And from what I’ve experienced in the last 2 days, the Galaxy Z Flip5 is extremely snappy and responsive. Battery endurance feels better than the previous Z Flip4 in my opinion, with it being able to last close to 24 hours on continuous usage. Take note that it comes with only a 3700mAh battery, which is low in today’s standards.

As for the camera, the Galaxy Z Flip5 comes with a 12MP main shooter and 12MP ultra-wide camera. The numbers may sound small but don’t let it fool you. It is true that most flagships now come with anything above 32MP sensors but the quality that comes out of the Z Flip5 is nothing short of stunning. Also, it is not the size that matters. It is how you use it. More results from the camera in the upcoming full review.
For now, I still have more things to test and try. Up to this point, the Galaxy Z Flip5 has earned its merit points from me. Not only does it look stunning, it is performing better than I expected. The most obvious improvement is the ability to fully close without leaving any gaps, unlike the previous Z Flip4. And the front cover display is awesome. Here’s a teaser about that – I don’t bother to flip open the phone to reply to any messages or read emails. All can be done on the cover display itself.

Closing up this preview, I can say that the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is almost complete. It is currently the best flip on the market and since Samsung have gained years of experience in creating foldable/flippable devices, others may have to smash tons of bugs and play the catch up game in this flippable hurdle.
