At first glance, I feel that the new OPPO Reno11 Pro to be one of the flagships that is going to make a good impact this year. Why you may ask? The new OPPO Reno11 Pro is beautifully crafted to suit the needs of professionals and social creators. It has a gorgeous OLED display, feature packed camera, powerful chipset and long lasting battery life.
I had the privilege of reviewing the OPPO Reno11 Pro for a few weeks and it has been my go-to device during the testing period because it feels so good in my hand and that I have a good snapper in my pocket whenever I need it.
So here is my full honest review of the new OPPO Reno11 Pro.
First Look and Design
What I like most about the OPPO Reno11 Pro is the overall design and construction. The 3D curved glass on the front and back enhanced the slim aesthetics, making it comfortable to hold in one hand. The smooth satin finish at the back adds a premium feel to the design and best of all, it is smudge-free.
It weighs 181 grams and with a thickness of only 7.59mm, it comes with a burdenless look for a more standout styling. The main panel is a 6.7” curved OLED display with 2412×1080 resolution that takes up 93% of the whole front screen with up to 120Hz dynamic refresh rate for a smoother on-screen animation.
While the brightness stands only up to 950 nits, it is still very bright even when I’m using it outdoors on a sunny day. It also comes with a 10-bit display to showcase over 1 billion colors for a richer and vibrant color reproduction, with an addition of HDR10+ support.
The 32MP selfie camera is located at the center top with a simple punch hole on the front display. On the right side, there’s the usual volume rocker button and the power button, which feels solid to the touch. However, there’s nothing much going on the left and top side of the device. Going around the bottom, there’s the SIM tray, USB-C charging port and the bottom firing speaker.
At the back, the smooth and sleek satin-like glass back looks very stylish and premium. The camera bump, dubbed as the Sunshine Ring camera system, is placed near the top left corner. This styling made the OPPO Reno11 Pro look clean and simple, yet the premium-like aesthetic design will appeal to photography enthusiasts, like me.
The Pro version of the OPPO Reno11 series like the one I tested comes with a triple camera setup. OPPO is known as the Portrait Expert, and the new OPPO Reno11 Pro nails every feature for mobile photography. I have tested many OPPO devices in the past that were dubbed as Portrait Expert, and 90% of the time, I managed to capture awesome portrait shots of my subjects. If OPPO says they are the Portrait Expert, I can vouch for them based on my experience.
Performance and Daily Use
When it comes to performance, I always look at the overall test with daily usage, multitasking and gaming. During the time of my review of the OPPO Reno11 Pro, it ticked all the boxes. It was a pleasure to use on a daily basis while being a quick snapper in my pocket. But when it comes to performance, I had to dig deeper.
The OPPO Reno11 Pro is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It also has a 512GB storage version, so be on a lookout for that if you need that extra storage. If you need a boost on the RAM, you can also expand it via the RAM Expansion feature for up to an additional of 12GB of RAM. In total, you can have up to 24GB of RAM with the OPPO Reno11 Pro. That is a huge RAM boost!
Apart from the awesome hardware setup, the OPPO Reno11 Pro is also powered by the latest ColorOS 14, based on Android 14. I find that the ColorOS 14 is more polished and refined, making it snappier with some additional features such as the Trinity Engine. If you’re wondering what Trinity Engine is, it is a feature where it will optimize three features of the hardware. Those three features are ROM Vitalisation, RAM Vitalisation and CPU Vitalisation.
ROM Vitalisation
With data compression and duplicate file removal, you can free up extra space on your device. This can potentially give you up to 45GB more space to use out of a total storage capacity of 512GB.
RAM Vitalisation
Power through your day with seamless multitasking. This device lets you keep a whopping 28 apps open in the background for up to 72 hours, ensuring smooth app switching and keeping you on top of everything you need.
CPU Vitalisation
The OPPO Reno11 Pro can be your personal efficiency coach. It learns your daily routines to optimize your phone’s performance and battery life. This means a smoother experience and more power for what matters to you.
With that being said, the OPPO Reno11 Pro will perform better for you over time for better multitasking, battery endurance and storage saving. I did have multiple apps running in the background during my test. And I’m the type of person who doesn’t swipe away any apps from the multitasking panel. I had tons of apps opened and yet, the OPPO Reno11 Pro can still plow through anything without any hiccups. That is a huge plus point from me.
As for the battery life, the 4600mAh capacity battery can last me a whole day and leave some extra juice for me to use the next day. Charging it back up to 100% only took me about half an hour with the 100W SuperVOOC charger that you get in the box. In such a short time of only 5 minutes, it can go up about 25%, which is more than enough to juice up for a couple of hours.
Battery life is rather important for me as I play a lot of games, almost on a daily basis. I will usually test a device with my go-to game, PUBG Mobile. But with the OPPO Reno11 Pro, I decided to try a more graphic demanding game. This time, I went with Genshin Impact.
Once I have the Genshin Impact game installed, it is time to run it. Everyone who plays this game knows that the installation file is rather huge. And the game requires a powerful chipset and a capable GPU to run smoothly. Of course, I set it to the highest graphic settings so that I can really push the OPPO Reno11 Pro to its limit. To my astonishment, the OPPO Reno11 Pro is able to run the game smoothly, with incredible graphics on its super vibrant OLED display.
I played for more than an hour continuously, and I didn’t notice any lag or stutter. The battery managed to hold up really well, dropping 25% from a full charge after close to two hours of gameplay. Best of all, the device is still cold. Some devices I’ve tested will warm up after long gaming sessions, but the OPPO Reno11 Pro doesn’t warm up at all, or perhaps just a tiny bit. I can go on for a few more hours and it will still be comfortable to hold.
Putting the OPPO Reno11 Pro to another graphic performance test, I fired up the Antutu 3D and 3DMark Wild Life for proper benchmarking. The OPPO Reno11 Pro scored a total of 928475 points on Antutu 3D, which is just shy of the 1 million mark. Still, the Dimensity 8200 is a powerful chipset with tons of potential. As for the 3DMark Wild Life, it scored a commendable 6223 points with 37 fps on average. This made the OPPO Reno11 Pro not only a photography powerhouse, but also a gaming monster.
Camera and Photography
In recent years, OPPO is somewhat synonymous with photography, especially when it comes to portrait photography. Their flagship photography powerhouse such as the OPPO Find X series are purely focused on photography, and they are brilliant. Recently, the OPPO Find X7 Ultra was ranked the top for its camera by DXOMark. This solidifies OPPO’s commitment in producing superb camera systems for their smartphones. And the OPPO Reno11 Pro is not being left out.
As I mentioned earlier, the OPPO Reno11 Pro comes with a triple camera setup. Here are the specifications for each of its three cameras and the selfie camera:
50MP Main Camera
- Sony IMX890
- 1/1.56’’ sensor
- All Pixel Omni-Directional PDAF
- 24mm f/1.8 lens
- OIS
32MP Telephoto Camera
- Sony IMX709
- 1/2.74’’ sensor
- RGBW
- 47mm f/2.0 lens
8MP Ultra Wide Camera
- Sony IMX355
- 16mm f/2.2 lens
32MP Selfie Camera
- Sony IMX709
- 1/2.74’’ sensor
- 21mm f/2.4 lens
- Autofocus
I use the main camera 90% of the time. It can be a simple point-and-shoot camera and yet, photos that were captured turned up really well. I can also opt to use the manual camera feature to manually focus and adjust the settings individually, and still be able to perform well. For portrait shots, the telephoto camera works best. The depth of field and the bokeh effect is spot on, with very little to no flaws around the subjects’ edges.
With the ultra wide camera, I use it mostly outdoors or when I want to get a larger field of view. It managed to capture awesome shots when outdoors when the sun is out without any obvious warping or distortions around the corners. As for the selfie camera, I am quite surprised at the photo quality it captures. Selfie photos are better with higher details and good color balance. Even the portrait selfies look great, thanks to its autofocus feature.
I have a few photos taken with the OPPO Reno11 Pro and from there, you can be your own judge for its overall quality. Go ahead and check out the photo gallery below:
Conclusion
The OPPO Reno11 Pro is not only a solid premium phone for professionals, it is also a photography powerhouse for content creators and photographers alike. I like the thin body construction that feels just right in my hand, with its 3D curved glass on the front and back. I particularly like the satin-like back panel, and the “Sunshine Ring” camera bump.
On the performance level, you can be sure that the OPPO Reno11 Pro can keep up with all your multitasking and gaming, if you’re into that. The battery endurance for this device is top notch, lasting for more than a day on normal use and can still last the whole day when you include gaming and watching some YouTube videos.
If you’re looking for a new capable device for your normal day to day use, you can really consider the new OPPO Reno11 Pro because you will get the best of both worlds in performance and photography. The MediaTek Dimensity 8200 is a very capable chipset to handle all your mobile tasks. In my personal opinion, I sort of prefer the Dimensity series as opposed to Snapdragon chipsets at the moment. But that’s just me.
