Moomoo Securities Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Moomoo Malaysia) kicked off its inaugural #MerdekaBersamaMoofest, an empowering three-day event dedicated to boosting financial literacy. Supported by Bursa Malaysia, the event reflects Moomoo’s ongoing commitment to transforming investors experience and access to financial markets, and helping Malaysians build financial independence through innovative technology.
In an announcement during the event, Moomoo Malaysia revealed its plans to be the first to launch US Options in Malaysia and will be offering Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) trading, further expanding its range of investment products. This strategic expansion will provide Malaysian investors with new opportunities to diversify their portfolios and access some of the world’s largest and most dynamic financial markets.
Survey Unveils Key Portfolio Strategies and Investor Optimism
One of the key highlights of the event was the release of Moomoo Malaysia’s H2 Investor Sentiment Survey, which revealed that 60.4% of Malaysian investors prefer buying stocks during market dips as their primary portfolio strategy, indicating a growing trend of investors viewing market downturns as opportunities rather than threats.
Additionally, increasing cash holdings has become the second most favored strategy, with 37.4% of investors, focusing on this to prepare for future opportunities.
Other strategies include shifting to more defensive sectors, which appeal to 22.2% of investors, as well as increasing exposure to international markets, with 1 in 4 respondents seeking to diversify beyond Malaysia.
Dennis Jee, Chief Operating Officer of Moomoo Malaysia, highlighted, “Our survey findings highlight that nearly 2 out of 3 Malaysian investors maintain a favorable market outlook for 2024. The fact that 60.4% of investors are looking to buy during market dips and that over one-third are increasing cash reserves signals a more mature, strategic mindset. This growing confidence is driving informed, data-driven decision-making, and at Moomoo, we’re committed to offering the tools and resources necessary to support this trend.”
Tech and AI Leading the Charge in Malaysian Investments
The survey also identified technology and artificial intelligence (AI) as key growth sectors for Malaysian investors, with 37% prioritizing these industries. As AI continues to revolutionize industries globally, Malaysian investors are capitalizing on its potential for long-term growth. Besides tech and AI, the energy, healthcare, and finance sectors remain highly attractive for investors, showcasing a diversified approach that combines growth potential with stability.

The opening day also featured a high-profile panel discussion, featuring industry leaders including Kathlyn Toh, Founder & Chief Trainer of Beyond Insights, Zeff Tan, Chief Trainer and Equity Researcher of SHARIX.MY, and Dennis Jee, COO of Moomoo Malaysia, who each shared their unique perspectives on navigating the current economic and landscape, the importance of education, as well as the pivotal role of technology in modern investing.
