Baja Aragón was set to provide a gruelling test for the Buggyra ZM Racing team in challenging Spanish terrain. However, one of the highlights of the FIA World and European Baja Cups was cancelled shortly before the start.
— This means that the Buggyra Invictus truck, with Martin Šoltys at the wheel, will not undergo its first competitive test ahead of the Dakar Rally in January. Nor will Adam Lacko and his Italian co-driver, Mirko Brun, take part in the cross-country event.

The organisers cancelled Baja Aragón because of the exceptionally high risk of wildfires caused by the prolonged heatwave in the region. “Based on technical reports, the Government of Aragon has decided not to authorise the race on the originally scheduled dates and, together with the promoter Esedos Events, is now looking for an alternative date towards the end of the year,” the organisers said in an official statement.
Buggyra ZM Racing will, however, remain in Spain and use the time to test its vehicles. “We’re disappointed that Baja Aragón has been cancelled. If these conditions had already persisted for some time, the event should have been postponed earlier. But we’re already in Spain, so we’ll make the most of the opportunity to test our vehicles,” explained Martin Šoltys.
The Buggyra Invictus driver had been preparing meticulously for Baja Aragón. In the challenging terrain around Teruel, he had planned primarily to assess the reliability of the truck and the modifications made during the first half of the year.
“We’ve been testing the durability of the turbo throughout the year, and we also have a new cab setup that we want to put through its paces during testing,” said Šoltys, who missed out on making his Baja Aragón debut.
Adam Lacko had also planned to conduct a demanding test of his car. “The gearbox has been overhauled, so during testing we want to make sure that it is shifting properly and that the problem from the previous event does not recur,” explained Lacko.
Lacko is scheduled to compete in Baja Hungaria in just two weeks. He will then return to his home circuit as the Czech Truck & NASCAR Prix 2026 takes place at Autodrom Most from 27 to 30 August.
