ECN’s operator categories aren’t judged by an editorial panel — they’re decided by travel agents and tour operators who sell expedition cruises for a living. Results will be announced on 29 September 2026 in London.
Poseidon Expeditions is a small-ship expedition cruise operator built around three ideas that have defined the company since it launched in 1999: small ship expedition, maximum time ashore, and expert-led wildlife experience. Twenty-seven years later, that formula still runs through a single vessel, the 114-passenger M/V Sea Spirit, sailing to the Arctic, Antarctica, and the British Isles.

Poseidon runs up to 3 landings a day, each lasting approximately 2.5 hours, and because the Sea Spirit carries only 114 guests, the entire group goes ashore together on every landing rather than rotating in smaller waves. The Favourite Responsible Expedition Cruise Operator nomination rests on a specific membership record. Poseidon has been a member in good standing of the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) since 2011 and also belongs to the Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO), running strict no-waste policies across every voyage. The company partners with Polar Bears International and Oceanites on polar wildlife conservation work as well.
