ChaPanda Opens at the Carrousel du Louvre as Overseas Store Count Tops 100

— Recently — Chinese tea chain ChaPanda has opened a new store at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, becoming the first Chinese modern tea brand to establish a presence there. Since opening its first Paris store in the 13th arrondissement in September 2025, ChaPanda has expanded to Galeries Lafayette, the Palais Garnier, and now the Carrousel du Louvre. In just over a year, it has grown to operate more stores in Paris than any other Chinese modern tea brand. Meanwhile, ChaPanda has signed more than 130 stores overseas, with over 100 now operating across 13 countries and regions.

“The Louvre is world-renowned for its extraordinary collections of paintings and sculptures and is one of the most visited museums in the world. We are honored and proud to open at the Carrousel du Louvre, and we see it as a recognition of the ChaPanda brand,” said Wang Huan, CEO of ChaPanda Overseas. “It gives visitors from around the world a chance to experience modern Chinese tea up close while also strengthening ChaPanda’s international presence.”

Who Is ChaPanda, and How Did It Get to the Louvre?

ChaPanda has ranked among China’s top three modern tea brands by market share. Founded in Chengdu, Sichuan, in 2008, the company now has more than 8,800 stores worldwide and went public in Hong Kong in 2024. Its signature Mango Pomelo Sago series has sold more than 400 million cups globally.

The company opened its first overseas store there in January 2024. It has since signed more than 60 stores in South Korea, giving it more locations there than any other Chinese food and beverage chain, according to the company. ChaPanda says local consumers account for 90% of its customers in South Korea, where the brand has also attracted K-pop idols and built a strong consumer following. It says the brand is now known locally for being from China and offering high-quality drinks made with fresh fruit.

Wang said ChaPanda has pursued deep localization since the start of its international expansion, developing menus for individual markets rather than simply taking the same products everywhere. Its R&D teams study local tastes and select local ingredients to develop new drinks, supported by the company’s global supply chain. In South Korea, for example, drinks made with Jeju Hallabong tangerines have proved popular. ChaPanda also adjusts its preparation standards to account for differences in local water, fruit, dairy products, and other ingredients. The new Carrousel du Louvre store follows the same approach, with limited-edition products and merchandise created for the Paris opening.

France, however, is a different kind of market for ChaPanda. In established markets such as South Korea and Malaysia, the company is focused on scaling a model it has already tested. In France, which ChaPanda considers a strategically important market, it is prioritizing landmark locations and long-term investment over rapid store growth. “It takes time for a modern tea brand to become truly global. In a strategic market like France, the value of landmark locations matters more than short-term store numbers,” Wang said. “The limited-edition products and merchandise launched with our Carrousel du Louvre store are part of our efforts to explore local consumer occasions in France. People can expect more new products and experiences from us in the future.”

Beyond South Korea, ChaPanda has expanded into 13 countries and regions, including Malaysia, Singapore, France, the United States, Canada, Vietnam, and Australia. “Our long-term goal overseas is to globalize both the brand and the supply chain,” Wang said. “We hope that one day, the influence of our Paris stores can reach New York, that what we learn from operating in New York can benefit Singapore, and that our overseas supply chain can even support our stores back in China. I look forward to that day.”
