Vault Australasia has opened a private vault at 22 King William Street, Adelaide, selling gold and silver bullion and offering bullion storage and safe deposit boxes.
Vault Australasia is an independent Australian company affiliated with the Commonwealth Vault Group, which has operated private vaults in New Zealand since 1998 and offers a gold range for New Zealand buyers. The Adelaide vault combines storage and bullion at one location.
The opening comes as some Australian banks reduce their safe custody services, leaving many customers in need of a new place to keep valuables.
Bullion
Vault Australasia sells gold bars and silver from selected mints and refiners through its website. Live spot prices are shown on the gold and silver pages, so buyers can track the market price as they shop.
Bullion bought online can be placed directly into the buyer’s own safe deposit box at the vault. There is no shipping, no collection and no need to keep metal at home.
Customers complete identity and proof of address checks ahead of their first purchase.
Investors who already own bullion bought elsewhere can store it at the vault alongside their documents and jewellery, so all their valuables are in one place and can be checked in a single visit.
Safe deposit boxes
For other valuables, customers can rent a secure safe deposit box for documents, jewellery, watches, heirlooms and coins, with access during opening hours. Wills, title deeds and passports are common choices, along with sentimental items that cannot be replaced.
Vault Australasia does not hold a copy of a customer’s box key. The vault is monitored by SECOM Security, after-hours emergency access can be requested, and private cages and vaults can be leased, with pricing on application.
Getting started
The bullion range and box options are available online, where customers can request box prices and availability, or book a time to see the vault.
