During the education event in Las Vegas, Dr. Dev was recognized for contributions to biological systems engineering and interdisciplinary research.
— Dr. Satyanarayan Dev was presented with the “Excellence In Education Award” at the Education 2.0 Conference, held from April 7 to April 9, 2026, at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The award recognizes educators and leaders who consistently contribute to teaching and learning while supporting academic growth and innovation in the education sector.

Dr. Satyanarayan Dev is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Biological Systems Engineering Program at Florida A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Food Sciences. With an interdisciplinary background in biological engineering, food science, microbiology, and food engineering, his research spans agtech, bioenergy, food safety, pathogen detection, and nutraceuticals. His work emphasizes bioprocess and electromagnetic processing equipment design, process optimization, modeling and simulation, and sustainable cold-chain technologies, including LiDAR and drone-swarm systems, electrotechnology refrigeration, in-shell egg pasteurization, and microwave thermochemical biomass conversion.
He has received multiple honors, including the ‘ASABE AE50 Award’ (2019), ABET – Program Evaluator, Team Chair, and Commissioner (since 2022), NABEC Distinguished Service Award (2021), Six elected leadership roles in ASABE, including Publications Council Chair and Standards Oversight Committee Chair.
Dr. Dev’s work focuses on biological systems engineering in agriculture and food systems, including the design of bioprocess equipment and food safety systems. His research has produced eight granted patents, several of which have been commercialized through Microsystems First Inc., a spin-off company. The in-shell egg pasteurization system has been licensed to Moba Inc.
After receiving the award, Dr. Dev shared, “It is a privilege to be recognized at the Education 2.0 Conference. The challenges we face in food systems, energy, and environmental sustainability demand engineers who can work across disciplines and across borders. I am grateful to FAMU, my students, and our international partners, and energized to keep building education that produces engineers ready to address these challenges.”
The recognition of Dr. Dev reflects contributions to education through research, teaching, and academic leadership. His work has contributed to the development of technologies related to agriculture, food processing, and energy systems, while also supporting student learning in interdisciplinary environments. He focuses on advancing sustainable engineering research and strengthening interdisciplinary academic programs that support evolving science and engineering fields.
