— To further encourage young overseas Chinese of Fujian origin to return to their hometowns to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship, and to support Fuzhou’s development into a talent-friendly and youth-oriented city, the opening ceremony of the 8th Forum on Maritime Silk Road for Young Overseas Chinese Elites from Fujian was held on the morning of the 23rd as part of the 2026 China Fuzhou International Investment Promotion Month. The event brought together a new generation of overseas Chinese of Fujian origin and outstanding young representatives from the overseas Chinese community across 76 countries and regions. Along with relevant leaders and guests from various sectors, participants reconnected over shared hometown ties, explored opportunities, and discussed future cooperation.

Fuzhou, a city renowned for its rich history and cultural heritage, is a vibrant hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. At present, Fuzhou is making an all-out effort to build a modern international city and accelerate its development into an important hub of the Maritime Silk Road. It has an even greater need than ever for the support of the overseas Chinese community and for young talent. The city hopes that young overseas Chinese of Fujian origin will return home more often and work locally to contribute to its development. It also hopes they will seize opportunities and showcase their talents in areas such as the low-altitude economy, digital economy, cultural and creative industries, and international trade, writing a vibrant chapter of youth in the new era and on this new journey.
It is reported that the Forum on Maritime Silk Road for Young Overseas Chinese Elites from Fujian has been successfully held seven times to date. It has become an important platform for bringing together the new generation of Fujian-origin overseas Chinese and promoting exchange and cooperation between China and overseas communities. This year’s event focused on themes such as the low-altitude economy, digital trade, and cultural experiences, featuring a series of site visits and business matchmaking activities. Participants visited industrial parks, key enterprises, and cultural landmarks, taking part in on-site investment promotion, immersive experiences, and face-to-face discussions. The aim is to facilitate the potential implementation of a number of high-quality projects. It also seeks to help overseas Chinese youth gain a deeper understanding of their hometown’s development momentum, strengthen their sense of identity, build consensus, and contribute youthful energy to Fuzhou’s efforts to better serve and integrate into the new development paradigm.
