— More than 200 young people gathered at Tlhabane Square Mall near Rustenburg, within South Africa’s greater Gauteng economic region, to mark the official opening of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Centre, signalling a unified stand against youth unemployment.

Held during Youth Month, the event became more than a ceremonial opening. It served as a call to action for young people to actively participate in shaping their future through skills development, mentorship, and community upliftment.

Gauteng Youth Take Stand Against Unemployment With New Centre

Youth unemployment continues to be a major challenge across Gauteng and surrounding economic regions, with many young people facing limited access to opportunities. The new centre aims to address this by providing practical, accessible programmes designed to improve employability and personal development.

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers Centre, the first of its kind globally, has been established as a community resource offering free programmes focused on study skills, personal development, social support, and volunteerism. These initiatives are designed to strengthen communication, leadership, and confidence among participants.

The opening builds on the momentum of a recent two-week empowerment campaign held in Tlhabane, where more than 170 young people completed training through the Scientology Tools for Life programme. The strong turnout highlighted the demand for structured, community-based development opportunities.

Community leader Mrs. Dora Mogapi emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that young people are increasingly choosing action over hopelessness.

Attendees described the atmosphere as energetic and optimistic, with many welcoming the creation of a dedicated space where young people can learn, collaborate, and contribute to their communities.

The centre represents a growing movement of youth across the broader Gauteng region who are choosing empowerment and active participation. By equipping young people with practical tools and opportunities, the initiative aims to increase employability and support long-term economic participation.
