University student Chinenye Mbakwe expands her role in the UK’s African music industry through media, touring, and artist development.

The University of Northampton student recently signed a multi-year tour management agreement with UK-based Afrobeats artist Great Adamz, marking a new chapter in her professional involvement within the United Kingdom’s African music sector.
The agreement follows several years of work across media, artist promotion, and entertainment operations. Mbakwe’s involvement in the industry began through media and cultural storytelling before expanding into artist management, public relations, live events, and touring support.
Today, she serves as Head of Operations at 99Pluz, an entertainment media platform focused on music, culture, and entertainment coverage. In that role, she contributes to projects involving artist promotion, audience engagement, and media coordination.
The growing international reach of African music has created opportunities not only for performers, but also for professionals working in management, media, event production, and artist development. As artists expand into new markets, many projects require coordination across multiple areas, including promotion, logistics, communications, and audience engagement. Mbakwe’s work has provided experience across several of these functions, contributing to her continued involvement in different aspects of the music and entertainment industry.

Her contributions have included promotional efforts connected to releases such as Blessed Boy, Body & Soul, and Funke.
Mbakwe’s media background has also provided opportunities to interview artists, creatives, and public figures, including MOBO Award-winning talent. Most recently, she attended the 2026 MOBO Awards as a guest.
