— The online cigar retail channel is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 8.9% through 2033, according to Grand View Research, as more enthusiasts begin their cigar search on the internet. Blind Label Cigar, a new cigar community based in Toronto, announced its launch this week with a structure built around member choice, offering a newsletter, an online group, a podcast, and a website scheduled to follow.
The community was founded by Norm Farrar, who has spent four decades in cigar culture. Rather than operating as a single destination, Blind Label Cigar is designed to meet members wherever they are, whether that is an inbox, a social feed, a podcast app, or, once live, the community website. Social media channels are now active, and a newsletter carries updates as the full platform rolls out.
“Blind Label Cigar exists because of 40 years spent enjoying cigar culture and the people in it,” said Norm Farrar, founder of Blind Label Cigar. “Wherever someone is in their cigar journey, there should be a way in that fits them. Some people want a newsletter, some want a group, some want a podcast. The point is choice. However you arrive, you can enjoy your cigar with us.”
The launch comes as interest-based groups continue to gain ground in the online cigar landscape. Analysts at Sprout Social report that niche communities have grown alongside social media and increasingly shape culture both online and offline, with hyper-niche groups forming around specific passions. Blind Label Cigar applies that model to cigar culture by offering several formats under one community rather than a single channel.
Updates on the community, including the website launch, are available through the newsletter at blcc.news.
