(September 8, 2026) Dream Daze Dispensary, a licensed adult-use cannabis dispensary at 5100 Transit Road in Depew, New York, will host a dog adoption event with Awesome Paws Rescue on Thursday, September 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. Adoptable dogs and their foster families will be at the store to meet the public.
The event is part of a year-round partnership between the two organizations. Dream Daze serves as a drop-off point for returnable bottles and cans, with the deposits going to the rescue. Customers can also round up their purchase to the next dollar at the register, with the difference donated to Awesome Paws.

Awesome Paws Rescue is a volunteer-run, no-kill, 501(c)(3) dog rescue based in Western New York. The group pulls dogs from overcrowded shelters, many of them in Southern states where euthanasia rates are high, and places them with foster families across the Buffalo area until they are adopted. The rescue has no paid staff and no facility, so donations go directly to transport, veterinary care and food for the dogs.
“Our customers are our neighbors, and a lot of them already have a dog from Awesome Paws,” said Sidney Barrett, owner of Dream Daze Dispensary. “We wanted the easiest possible way for people to help. Bring your returnables, round up at the register, or come meet a dog on the 25th. All of it goes to the rescue.”
The partnership expands each December, when Dream Daze collects unopened toys and unused clothing for Toys for Tots alongside unopened pet toys and essentials for Awesome Paws. The 2026 drive will run through mid-December at the Depew store.
Dream Daze opened in spring 2025. Barrett, who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in cannabis studies, opened the Depew dispensary at 23 and is one of the youngest women to own a licensed adult-use dispensary in New York State. The women-owned store is known for an education-first approach, a curated menu that includes local craft flower, and same-day delivery around Depew, Lancaster, Cheektowaga and Western New York. “If I won’t consume it, I’m not selling it,” Barrett said. “That same standard applies to who we partner with. Awesome Paws does the work, and every dollar reaches a dog.”
The September 25 adoption event is free and open to the public. Attendees must be 21 or older to enter the dispensary.
