The company said the trend reflects demand from small business owners seeking help with state compliance and daily operations through one platform.

Firstep provides business startup services, state compliance support, and software tools for small businesses across the United States. Company figures show that more than 200,000 clients have used its services, and 2026 is expected to become the first year the company signs up more than 100,000 clients.
Automatic annual reports remain the company’s best-selling ongoing service. Firstep said the service files annual reports on a customer’s behalf unless changes are needed, which can help business owners avoid missed deadlines, late fees, and administrative dissolution.
Many small business owners use separate tools for compliance, scheduling, payments, marketing, and client management. Firstep said its dashboard brings those functions into one system, giving subscribers access to tools for appointment management, credit card payments, website tools, sales funnels, social posting, and AI chat tools.
“Over 50% of our orders opt for some type of ongoing service,” said Ben Czajka. “We will take care of your companies annual reports automatically,” Czajka said.
Revenue reached $20 million, according to the company, with growth of 100% over the prior period. Firstep said its customer base is concentrated among solopreneurs and service businesses such as pressure washing, cleaning, lawn care, hair, massage, catering, baking, art, and pet care.
Competition remains strong in the business formation and compliance sector, where LegalZoom, ZenBusiness, and Bizee are among the largest companies identified by Firstep. U.S. operations remain the company’s sole geographic focus, and no expansion outside the country is planned over the next 12 months.
