— Jarvis Eugene “Gene” Saunders, Founder & CEO of Project Lifesaver International, was celebrated with the Entrepreneurial Excellence Award at the Las Vegas 2026 Edition of the Founders 2.0 Conference and was recently featured in New York’s Times Square. This recognition follows his acknowledgment at the Founders 2.0 Conference, held from April 7–9, 2026, at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, USA. The three-day entrepreneur summit brought together founders, innovators, business leaders, and decision-makers to exchange insights on entrepreneurship, problem-solving, leadership, and initiatives creating meaningful impact across communities and industries.

His feature in one of the world’s most iconic public spaces marks a meaningful milestone for individuals whose ideas have evolved into solutions that address real-world challenges. Gene’s journey reflects how dedication, public service, and innovative thinking can lead to initiatives that create lasting value and improve lives.
After graduating from high school and completing National Guard active duty, Jarvis Eugene “Gene” Saunders held a number of positions looking for his niche. In 1968, he applied to and was accepted by the Chesapeake, VA, police department. He served with the police dept. for 33 years, retiring as a Captain in 2001.
While there, he held every command position in the department and founded and commanded the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) for 23 years. In 1992, Gene began service as a volunteer, commanding the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue unit. This is where he developed the idea for and implemented Project Lifesaver.
This Times Square recognition highlights the achievements of entrepreneurs whose vision is rooted in addressing critical needs and creating practical solutions. Gene’s contributions demonstrate how leadership, perseverance, and a commitment to service can inspire initiatives that make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Speaking about what this milestone means for the work his organization continues to pursue, Gene commented, “I am extremely grateful to have a feature on Times Square. It validates our organization and its mission to a large number of people.”
Building on a legacy of service and innovation, Gene’s continued efforts reflect a commitment to advancing initiatives that address community needs and improve outcomes for those they serve. This focus aligns with the mission of the Founders 2.0 Conference, which emphasizes entrepreneurial thinking that transforms ideas into impactful, lasting solutions.
