Social Impact Technology Scales Proven Platform Supporting Vulnerable People

The UK-developed platform has supported more than 37,000 people and generated over £54 million in social value.

Social Impact Technology Ltd (SIT) is preparing to scale its proven vulnerability intelligence platform, which helps organisations identify need earlier, improve engagement and connect people with relevant support.

Social Impact Technology Scales Proven Platform Supporting Vulnerable People

The technology has been proven through more than four years of live delivery across utilities, housing, healthcare and public services. Programmes delivered through the platform have supported more than 37,000 people, generated over £54 million in social value and achieved Social Return on Investment of up to £1:30.

One Intelligent Platform for Multiple Needs

The platform was developed to address a widespread problem: support services often operate independently, using different forms, assessments and referral processes. This can leave vulnerable people repeatedly explaining their circumstances or remaining unidentified until they reach crisis point.

Social Impact Technology brings identification, engagement, support coordination and outcome measurement together within one intelligent platform. A single interaction can identify multiple and overlapping needs relating to energy affordability, financial hardship, health, housing, social isolation and digital exclusion.

The technology uses data intelligence, artificial intelligence and human-centred engagement to help organisations identify needs, improve targeting and coordinate routes into relevant services. Each interaction, referral and recorded outcome strengthens the platform’s vulnerability intelligence and supports better future decision-making.

The platform has helped power The Vulnerability Initiative™, founded by Derek Owen and delivered through Healthy Homes Solutions. The initiative provides residents with a simplified route to information, direct registrations, eligibility checks and specialist referrals.

Support may include registration for the Priority Services Register and Vulnerability Registration Service, financial eligibility checks, energy and housing support, debt guidance, bereavement support and services for people experiencing health conditions or age-related vulnerability.

More than 50 national and local organisations have contributed to programmes delivered through the platform across the utility, housing, healthcare, financial-support and voluntary sectors.

Derek Owen, Managing Director of Social Impact Technology Ltd and Founder of The Vulnerability Initiative™, said:

“The platform was created because many vulnerable people struggle to navigate complicated and disconnected support systems. Services often exist, but they are rarely connected or easy to access.

“Vulnerability is also rarely isolated. Financial hardship, health, housing, energy affordability and social isolation frequently overlap. Our technology helps organisations identify those needs through one simpler interaction and connect people with appropriate support.”

The platform supports digital self-service, email, SMS, telephone engagement, AI-assisted outreach and trained human support teams. This multi-channel approach helps organisations engage people with different communication and accessibility needs.

For participating organisations, it provides improved insight into vulnerability and service demand while supporting earlier intervention, reduced duplication and measurable outcomes.

Owen continued:

“This is no longer a proof of concept. It is a proven platform with real-world delivery, measurable outcomes and established commercial foundations. Our ambition is to scale this technology across additional sectors and international markets, creating lasting value for people, organisations and communities.”
