Under the first pillar, REBLOCK BLOCKS, participating corporations would fund enhanced cleaning, landscaping, maintenance, and neighborhood ambassador services across portfolios of up to fifteen to twenty city blocks spanning all five boroughs. Participating companies would receive standardized public acknowledgment through a uniform signage system approved by the City. All services would supplement rather than replace existing municipal operations.
The second pillar, REBLOCK STATIONS, proposes that the MTA evaluate a program allowing selected subway stations to receive private investment through approved sponsorship, concession, retail, and technology arrangements. Corporate participation, branding, and any commercial activity would require MTA approval. Official station names, emergency signage, ADA requirements, and transit wayfinding would remain unchanged.
The third pillar, REBLOCK WORKS, would create structured employment pathways for military veterans and individuals transitioning out of homelessness. Qualified nonprofit and workforce partners would recruit and train participants for paid positions supporting adopted blocks and stations, with corporate partners encouraged to create formal interview and hiring pipelines for program graduates.
Caridi is requesting an exploratory working session with City and MTA leadership as an immediate next step. The proposed ninety-day roadmap includes identifying pilot blocks and station locations across all five boroughs, developing standardized participation and reporting guidelines, recruiting a founding group of corporate partners, and selecting qualified workforce and nonprofit service providers.
The REBLOCK NYC proposal follows Caridi’s recent economic development mission to South Korea alongside General Michael Flynn, during which the delegation met with government officials and corporate executives to explore Korean corporate relocation to the United States and employment opportunities for American Korean War veterans.
Caridi has previously led development projects across the New York metropolitan area through MAJIC Development Group, including the air rights acquisition and sale of Harlem Park, the rehabilitation of the 600-room Holiday Inn Hotel on West 57th Street in Manhattan, and the construction of a 204-unit residential complex in Palisades Park, New Jersey.
