How’s your home entertainment system? Good? What if I tell you that you can have better with a fraction of the price, would you want to upgrade?
If your answer is no, it means you’re happy with your current home entertainment setup. Your over-the-top surround system costs more than a small car. I don’t blame you. A good audio system at home is something that I have been wanting for the longest time. But do I really have to break my bank in order to have that? And if your answer is yes to the question earlier, you’re in for a treat.
PRISM+ recently launched their new soundbar lineup for 2023 and beyond. And one particular system caught my attention – the new PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar. Priced just below RM2k, the new PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar is a bargain for what it can do.
If you see some soundbars from some of the well known brands, you will have to fork out a little extra and you may feel like you overpaid for a soundbar. Sure, you’re mostly buying the brand instead of the actual product. But don’t get me wrong, the branded audio products are good on their own terms. But what sets apart from the branded ones from the lesser known ones is the bang for the buck.
First look at PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar
That is exactly the case with the new PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar. I don’t need to fork out the cash I didn’t have in order to get something great. The PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar is simply awesome as it is. So what do I get for a sub RM2k soundbar?

It comes in a large packaging, obviously. Inside it, there’s the long soundbar itself which I think is a little heavy but when it comes to speakers, heavy means high quality. Along with the soundbar, there’s also the rather large subwoofer system. This subwoofer looks like it means business. There’s the bottom firing bass speaker located at the bottom part of the speaker case as well as the ventilation outlet at the back.

Setting up the soundbar and the subwoofer is pretty much straightforward. I just have to turn on the main speaker and the subwoofer at once and it will auto connect to each other. Once that is done, I can either select to connect via HDMI or via the standard AUX-in port. I can also use digital out from the TV but I prefer to use direct USB connection. I managed to look up the PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar to my MI Stick to run Android TV, I’m glad that works. Having a direct connection to the soundbar via HDMI is way better. The audio and video quality are stunning.

Since I’m running Android TV straight from the soundbar via the HDMI 2 port, I can leave the HDMI 1 port to use with Astro. Sound quality is equally amazing. I guess the main focus of this soundbar is to bring out the best in audio experience. As I said earlier, the whole setup process is extremely easy. I got everything going in less than 10 minutes. Even the Mi TV Stick worked well running directly from the soundbar. There is also the standard AUX input at the back followed by Optical in, USB, HDMI and Bluetooth.
Now why do I like about the PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar?
First of all, it comes with a total of 10 speakers inside the super long soundbar and one on the subwoofer. If you’re listening or watching a movie with Dolby Atmos enabled, you will be extremely pleased with the superb audio experience. For this, you need the official Netflix or Disney+ account. I am on Netflix 80% of the time and watching movies or series with the PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar is really good. The whole listening experience is out of this world. I am wondering to myself, how can this affordable audio system be this good?

The 10 top-side and front firing speakers including tweeters are great. There are 4 speakers firing up front, 2 speakers firing upwards and 2 more firing to the sides, totalling up to 8 speakers on the soundbar itself. There are 2 silk dome tweeters firing upwardas well. The subwoofer however, is one mean speaker. I get super solid bass quality from that single subwoofer. Sometimes, subwoofers are just okay on their own. Some of those that I have reviewed sounded just nice, without anything to look forward to. But the subwoofer on the PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar is something else. I have never felt this power for so long.
Sound check
My obvious and go-to music will always be Enter Sandman – Metallica, followed by Master of Puppets (thanks to Stranger Things 4 for bringing it back). For this, I connect the PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar to my phone via Bluetooth. And I fire up Apple Music on my iPhone while making sure the audio quality is set to Lossless. Trust me, Apple Music’s lossless audio sounds way better than Spotify’s highest quality audio. Unless I’m still subscribed to Tidal. That is something else.

The beginning of Enter Sandman, there’s this very strong and powerful bass roll followed by hard hitting guitar. It’s during this moment when the bass roll kicks in, I set the volume up to 50%. ONLY 50% mind you. What happened was the whole house started to tremble. At 50%, I felt like my chest was about to burst and the super hard thump from the bass felt so damn good. It does not break or crackle during the hard thumping. It is so solid that I had tears in my eyes from all the sound pleasure. From here, I wouldn’t dare to push it to 100%.
And since this is PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar, I thought to myself, I might as well play some symphonic songs like Yanni’s Live at the Acropolis. That is a classic for symphonic or orchestral music. The PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar played beautifully. It felt like I was there at the amphitheater during that live show. Truly, this is the best audio soundbar and subwoofer I have ever tried.
I may be exaggerating a little bit but that is an honest truth on my part. There are few other factors to look at and test such as the maximum decibel, maximum output in watts, high notes, mid-range and low notes, etc. There’s also playing with the equalizer, audio balance, reverb, snare and so on. But for this personal audio experience, I only use my natural hearing capabilities and trust my ears. Good thing I’m not tone deaf.

For controlling the audio mode, you can select any of the presets from the menu. There are buttons located on top of the soundbar for this. Starting with the power button on the far left, and then there’s the input selector, mode button to shift from one preset to another and there’s the volume up and down button on the right side. There are 5 presets available. Music, Movie, Gaming, Sports and News. I prefer the Movie preset because I find it to have the highest range among all. So yes, choosing any of the presets will make things easier.

Conclusion
There you have it. The new PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar is a no-brainer. If you’re looking into upgrading your audio system, I wouldn’t go far at all. Audio quality is top notch in my opinion. If you’re into music, you will be happy with the super punchy bass from the subwoofer. Watching movies with Dolby Atmos is even better.
To go along with the PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar, it would be nice if I have a new PRISM+ 4K Android TV to match. But that will be in time to come. I would highly recommend the PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar if you’re really looking to replace or upgrade your home audio system. It is super easy to set up, very user friendly and also affordable.
