Have you been wanting an immersive home theatre audio system but you often think twice whenever you want to make the purchase? Some of them are priced a little high for good quality ones while the cheap ones don’t give you goosebumps while listening to your favourite song.
Well I have good news for you. If you wish to fulfil your dream of having an immersive audio experience while watching movies at home, you should turn your head towards PRISM+ Flow Soundbar, I kid you not. This entry level soundbar with subwoofer by PRISM+ kicks some serious butts when it comes to audio quality. And in this full review, I will share my experience with you guys as to why I like it, and why you should get one if you’re on a budget.
Let’s Get To It
To start it off, this is the second soundbar by PRISM+ that I have reviewed. The first one was their flagship PRISM+ Symphony Soundbar and I gave it an extremely good review due to the awesomeness of the audio quality and roof shaking bass power. This PRISM+ Flow Soundbar is their entry level home audio system but shockingly to me, it performed just as good.
Fine, the bass from the subwoofer is not as powerful but it is enough to wake my neighbours up if I blast it in the middle of the night. The bass is strong, but it lacks the extra punch that I got from the Symphony. Although the size of the subwoofer component is more or less the same, the speaker on the Flow is firing sideways to the right while the Symphony fires towards the bottom. Nevertheless, I am very happy with the Flow’s strong bass.
Now, the main PRISM+ Flow soundbar consists of two front-facing speakers and two tweeters on each side. When it comes to audio clarity, I am actually surprised with its capabilities. The sound it produces is sharp and crisp even when I set the treble at level 3, whereby the max level is 5. Sound is excellent. It’s like, I almost could not believe the audio quality that came out from this highly affordable soundbar.
Putting it to the test, I fire up YouTube and look for bass boosted playlist and bass test videos. Of course, I would play the highest quality possible in order to get the best audio. There is a bass test video that plays all the Dolby and DTS intro where the bass is immensely deep and strong with an awesome surround that puts the soundbar speakers to hard work. Surround here means sounds that move all around from left to right, to somewhere behind and then hit you in the face with the front firing speakers.
Through that audio test, the PRISM+ Flow Soundbar passed with flying colours. It’s hard to describe in writing but I can tell you this, I hit replay many times over because it was that good. I would confirm that the Symphony does it better but the Flow hit me with so many surprises. First surprise is that it has less main speakers but it is still able to give the other brands a run for their money. Second surprise is the solid clarity from all the speakers as though the Flow is worth more than a thousand ringgit. But it’s not.
Another test is to play my go-to song which is Enter Sandman by Metallica. As usual, I would wait for the hard drum bass to hit at the beginning of the song. When that happens, I can feel the hard hitting bass through my chest. It is strong and solid, without any breaking or hissing. That is enough to convince me that the PRISM+ Flow Soundbar is totally worth it. Even my 5 years old son enjoys the sound it produces.
Specifications
So I have been telling you how good it is from my own personal experience listening to it. I tried to be as layman as I can so that anyone who reads my review can easily understand my points. Now let’s get into the technical details a little bit, for those who want to know what lies inside the PRISM+ Flow.
The Flow is a 2.1 channel soundbar system with a subwoofer on the side. The maximum power output is 240W which can be loud enough for a medium sized living room or master bedroom. Being a 2.1 channel stereo soundbar, it means it only comes with two front firing main speakers and one external subwoofer that is connected to the main soundbar via Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.
However, there are also two front firing tweeters that sit at each of the far sides of the soundbar. These tweeters produce the high notes that are very distinct from the main speakers. All the sound clarity from vocals or speech will be supported by these tweeters. Hence why I love having these installed in my car as well.
The PRISM+ Flow soundbar supports Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus to give a higher audio quality for its user. You can connect the soundbar to your TV or home system via optical input, coaxial or AUX input, Bluetooth 5.1 if your system supports that and HDMI version 1.4. You can also jab in a USB device if you have an audio file saved to play some music.
On the right side of the soundbar itself, you will find the physical buttons where you can control the volume and to choose the input mode such as AUX, Line-In, Bluetooth, USB and Coaxial. You will also get a remote control to configure more options such as treble and bass levels. The levels can go from -5 to 5 at the highest but I set the Flow soundbar to level 3 for the bass and 5 for the treble. Yes, at level 3 bass, the boom is already quite strong.
80% of the time I will connect my phone to the PRISM+ Flow via Bluetooth to play some music. The connection is super stable and there is no lag between both devices. Audio quality is superb. All I can say is that I am extremely happy with the soundbar.
Closing Notes
As far as I’m concerned, the PRISM+ Flow soundbar is a must buy item if you’re looking into buying an affordable home entertainment speaker. You don’t have to look for anything else. This is my recommendation. The Flow really goes with the flow. But if you have a slightly higher budget, the Symphony is a no brainer.
I have tested many speakers since I started blogging more than 15 years ago. Most of those I’ve reviewed cost more than a thousand ringgit and some were more than two thousand. And I can say this, the PRISM+ Flow produces sound as good, if not better than some of those expensive ones I’ve tried in the same class. No kidding. And no, this is not a sponsored review. This is my honest opinion about the PRISM+ Flow.
The Flow is light, just the right size for a minimalist design concept and can really bring down the roof. That if I really dare to blast to its maximum volume (which I haven’t). I really have nothing else to say.
So if you’re thinking of getting one, you can simply browse PRISM+ official website to have a look and make the purchase. The PRISM+ Flow soundbar is priced at only RM799.00.
