— From Milan to Beijing, a Chinese premium NEV brand is charting a different path.
While many rivals chase single-point tech breakthroughs or flashy AI promises, VOYAH – the Dongfeng-backed premium NEV brand – argues that the real game-changer is systemic innovation.
“VOYAH has not gone off track,” Lu Fang, Chairman of the Board and Party Secretary of VOYAH, said during the 2026 Beijing auto show. “Our core technologies – from powertrain and chassis to integrated vehicle safety, E/E architecture, intelligent cockpit and autonomous driving – are fully self-owned. We are fully capable of competing with any global brand.”

VOYAH’s message is clear: winning globally requires more than a flashy sensor or a bold design. It demands the integration of design, space and technology into a cohesive system.
From product exports to standard-setting
VOYAH’s recent moves illustrate this philosophy. In April, the VOYAH Passion L debuted at Milan Design Week inside Teatro Alcione, a historic theater that has hosted top luxury brand launches. European media and audiences described the car as having “unexpected elegance” – a phrase that captured how Chinese aesthetics can redefine global EV luxury standards.
Weeks later at Auto China in Beijing, VOYAH closed the loop. The Taishan X8, positioned as a new flagship five-seat SUV, offers 6.1 square meters of “courtyard-level” cabin space – the largest in its class. It also comes with dual zero-gravity rear seats and a one-button automatic bed conversion.

On the technology front, VOYAH delivered technologies many brands are still developing. The Taishan Ultra, launched in March, achieved production rollout of an L3-capable intelligent driving architecture. It packs an 896- line dual- optics image- grade lidar that can detect a 30-cm-high obstacle from 162 meters away.
Of course, Lu Fang also emphasized: “Even if a vehicle has the capability, it does not mean drivers can take their hands and eyes off completely.”
Full-chain integration: the foundation behind the strategy
Lu Fang repeatedly stressed one phrase – “R&D, production, supply, sales, service” full value – chain control.
According to VOYAH’s disclosures, the company has built five major technology pillars, accumulated 6,102 patents, and created one of China’s first fully localized welding production lines – from PLC systems to robots and sensors, sourced from domestic suppliers.
This self – reliance gives VOYAH the confidence to reject destructive price-war competition. “We will not take the low-value or export-involution route,” Lu said. “We must solidly improve user experience and service, so that overseas users trust Chinese brands and products.”
Three–pronged globalization strategy
VOYAH’s global expansion follows a clear three-part plan.
First, deepen roots in Europe. VOYAH already operates in Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain, building a full ecosystem of product, sales, service and users.
Second, move into the Middle East. After launching in the UAE and Qatar in 2025, VOYAH will make a major new product announcement in Saudi Arabia in mid-May. It has already completed a 52°C high–temperature charging test – 20% to 80% in under 13 minutes.
Third, enter right-hand drive markets. In the second half of 2026, the VOYAH Dream right-hand drive version will officially launch, targeting right-hand-drive markets representing nearly 18 million vehicles annually.
“This is about deep local integration,” a VOYAH executive said. “Rather than competing on low prices alone, we aim to compete through technology, user experience and a premium brand experience rooted in Chinese innovation and cultural warmth.”
Linking growth with global ESG consensus
At the Beijing show, VOYAH unveiled its ESG brand “Better VOYAH” with the philosophy “Technology Leading the Way to Zero Carbon.” On April 28, it released its first ESG report, highlighting key 2025 achievements: new energy vehicle sales reached 150,169 units, up 87% year-on-year; R&D investment totaled 3.9 billion yuan, representing 11.2% of operating revenue; and L3 conditional autonomous driving systems completed 110,000 kilometers of real-road testing. The company also reported non-fossil energy consumption of 19.85% and a 99.2% utilization rate of recyclable packaging materials, reinforcing its commitment to green manufacturing.
“VOYAH’s upward trajectory is not about being the loudest,” Lu said. “It is about running the most steadily, and the furthest.”
As the global auto industry undergoes deep restructuring, that quiet confidence may be the most disruptive statement of all.
