— On September 19th, the large-scale documentary-style science and technology innovation media event, “Leaders In Future Tech+”, held its “Youth Innovation Carnival” in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The event was hosted by China Media Group(CMG), the Ministry of Education, and the Nanjing Municipal People’s Government, and organized by CMG Mobile, CMG Jiangsu Bureau, the Department of College Student Affairs of the Ministry of Education, the Publicity Department of the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the CPC, the Nanjing Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and the Jianye District People’s Government, with academic support from The Chinese Association of Young Scientists and Technologists. More than 100 people, including academicians, experts, industry representatives, investment institutions, and representatives of young science and technology innovators, participated in the event, which provided a national-level comprehensive service platform for young science and technology talents to showcase their talents, connect with resources, and achieve practical development.
At the event, representatives from investment and financial institutions including the National Innovation Centre par Excellence, Longding Investment, Hainan Finance, Shuyun Capital, Nanjing Innovation Investment Group, SMIC Capital, Ralph Capital, Puhua Capital, Eagle Alliance Capital, and Nanjing Securities took the stage to jointly complete the “Joining Hands for the Future” cooperation ceremony. As of the 19th, the institutions had a total intended investment of over 485 million yuan, covering 34 participating science and technology innovation enterprises. All institutions unanimously stated that they will adhere to the principles of investing early, investing in small-scale, high-tech, and long-term investments, valuing the technical foundation and growth potential of young teams, providing young entrepreneurs with sufficient patience and support, and accelerating the commercialization of laboratory results.
The carnival featured a “Youth Innovation Moment” segment, connecting with the research team from the Nanjing University Brain-Computer Interface Research Institute. Their non-invasive brain-computer interface technology was showcased—researchers used an EEG cap to collect and decode human brain signals in real time, remotely controlling a robot to perform actions such as waving, making heart shapes with its hands, and interactive hugs. Academician Zheng Hairong explained the industrial value and application prospects of brain-computer interface technology, pointing out that this technology will reshape the global digital infrastructure in the future. Cai Lei, an ALS fighter, a 2026 AI Special Contribution Award recipient, and a “Youth Innovation Recommendation Officer” for *Leaders In Future Tech+*, sent a video message encouraging more young people to dedicate themselves to the life sciences field and respond to life’s expectations with technological innovation.
The “Leaders In Future Tech+” program team spanned 10 cities and held 15 preliminary selections, selecting 100 groups of young science and technology innovators from nearly 500 startups and young science and technology talents to gather in Nanjing. The average age of the participants was only 28, with the youngest being just 14. Their fields covered cutting-edge tracks such as embodied intelligence, large-scale models, biomedicine, aerospace, and new energy. After 6 live competitions, 15 contestants entered the “Youth Innovation Carnival.” At the event, the list of the 15 finalists was announced. You Xiaohu, Jiang Chun, and Liu Shuang announced the third-prize winners based on the theme “Youth is about daring to try and fail”; Yu Haibin, Chen Qingquan, and Li Hongwei announced the second-prize winners based on the theme “Technology Needs to Enter Real-World Scenarios”; and Zheng Hairong, Fei Jianjiang, and Chen Ning announced the first-prize winners based on the theme “Entrepreneurship Requires Understanding of Choices and Trade-offs.” The contestants placed their name tags on the “Youth Innovation Center” installation and delivered a “Center Declaration,” showcasing the pioneering and innovative spirit of young science and technology innovators in the new era.
At the end of the event, host Hu Xin, along with contestants Xu Ke, Tao Wenyu, Ren Jun, and over sixty other participants, sang “My Future Is Not a Dream,” inscribing their youthful vows of “daring to think, daring to do, and daring to take responsibility” into the night sky of the ancient capital. A light show combined with a robotic arm device opened the event with the song “Inspiring Youth,” igniting the entire venue. Singer SHarK Milley, together with a robot, performed “Shuffle”; the Huichundan Band sang “Flowers,” paying tribute to those who persevere on the path of scientific and technological innovation; and French singer Hélène Holles performed “Jasmine Flower” in both Chinese and French, building a bridge for cultural exchange between China and the world.
In the future, “Leaders In Future Tech+” will continue to build an integrated platform for showcasing, connecting, and empowering young science and technology innovators, accompanying them from ideas to reality, from the spotlight to a broader stage of the times, and injecting youthful energy into high-level scientific and technological self-reliance.
