Inspired by the familiar action of a ballpoint pen, the HOZO Hobby Knife replaces traditional twist-lock blade mechanisms with a simple push-button design, complemented by an integrated storage case that doubles as a cutting station.
HONG KONG, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — HOZO, a developer of innovative tools for makers, today launched the HOZO Hobby Knife on Kickstarter. Rethinking how hobbyists change blades and organize their tools, this new hobby knife set introduces a spring-loaded, push-button mechanism inspired by the familiar operation of a ballpoint pen, offering a new approach to a process that has traditionally required users to twist or loosen the knife handle.
Instead of rotating the handle to release or secure a blade, users can simply press a button to release the blade and install a replacement. This intuitive mechanism is designed to make blade changes more straightforward and convenient, helping creators maintain their workflow during detailed cutting and crafting tasks.
The knife features a full-aluminum hexagonal handle with a raised ring and textured grip, designed to provide a stable, comfortable hold and precise control. A stainless steel magnetic collet helps retain the blade securely, while the push-button mechanism simplifies the replacement process.
A Compact Case That Doubles as a Cutting Station
Beyond the knife itself, HOZO has rethought how hobby knife accessories are stored and used. The compact case functions as both a blade organizer and a portable cutting workspace. With a simple sliding and unfolding motion, it expands to provide additional working space and offers three configurations to accommodate different working environments and cutting angles.
Inside, a modular blade magazine keeps accessories organized and accessible. Dedicated slots hold blades point-down, while magnets help prevent them from shifting during transport. A one-way disposal slot provides a designated place for used blades, supporting more controlled disposal.
A Versatile Blade Selection for Different Projects
The HOZO Hobby Knife set supports a range of cutting, carving, sawing and filing tasks. Available blade types include a standard 30-degree blade for general-purpose cutting, a long blade for thicker materials, chisel and mini-chisel blades, curved blades, double-edge blades, U-gouges, V-gouges, a saw and a metal file.
This selection makes the set suitable for a variety of creative applications, including card making, scrapbooking, leathercraft, jewelry making, 3D-printed part cleanup, architectural model building, scale modeling, and detailed Gundam and military diorama projects.
Part of HOZO’s Desktop Tool Ecosystem
HOZO Hobby Knife expands HOZO’s range of tools for desktop making and complements products such as HOZO NeoSander, the reciprocating detail sander, and NeoBlade, the cordless ultrasonic cutter. Together, these tools support different stages of a project, from cutting and shaping to sanding and finishing.
