The expanded development will become a fully integrated mixed-use destination, seamlessly connecting the new retail space with the existing mall and Qiantan Place, including two Grade-A office towers. Beyond enhancing connectivity within the development, the expansion will strengthen Qiantan’s urban fabric, creating new opportunities for people, businesses and communities to connect.

“Since opening, Taikoo Li Qiantan has become one of Shanghai’s most distinctive retail landmarks, recognised for its wellness-focused positioning, open-plan design and immersive experiences which resonate with the surrounding community,” said Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties. “This expansion marks an important new chapter for Taikoo Li Qiantan. It gives us the opportunity to build on the success of the project and further showcase our placemaking expertise in Pudong. Together with the Lujiazui Group, we are creating a destination that will continue to contribute to the vitality and long-term growth of Qiantan and Shanghai for years to come.”

“Qiantan stands as a flagship strategic development area under the Lujiazui Group’s urban master plan. Through targeted functional integration and balanced, sustainable growth, we have transformed the area into an open, dynamic international community. The expansion of Taikoo Li Qiantan is a testament to our successful partnership with Swire Properties and will further strengthen Qiantan’s role as a strategic growth engine for Shanghai,” said Xu Erjin, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Lujiazui Group.

The project will introduce a more diverse mix of retail, leisure and lifestyle offerings. Anchor stores will increase from four to ten, creating a vibrant all-day destination that pairs retail and leisure experiences with dynamic evening activations, further enhancing Taikoo Li Qiantan’s appeal while continuing to contribute to Shanghai’s development as a world-class city.

The expanded Taikoo Li Qiantan will welcome key tenants, including premium lifestyle supermarket city’super, renowned for its “Global Food Museum” concept; +5LBS, an innovative fitness brand, with its all-new premium concept store; Meland New Concept Store, a premium sports-trend hub; CHILL PARK, a city lifestyle market curated by the BUTTERFUL & CREAMOROUS team, featuring a lineup of Michelin‑recommended must‑try dining brands; Mei KTV·GOLD, the debut of a new-concept flagship store in the Chinese Mainland; and Fig & Olive, making its Pudong debut. These additions will further energise Shanghai’s night-time economy while enriching the area with innovative all-day experiences.

Drawing inspiration from the majestic landscape of Mount Huangshan, the retail expansion continues Taikoo Li Qiantan’s signature open-plan, nature-driven design philosophy. Building on the existing design language of natural stone and wood, forest and mountain elements are woven into the architecture. Inspired by the fluidity of natural landscapes, the flowing architectural forms evoke the movement of water and the natural gathering of people, creating immersive spaces that encourage exploration and social interaction.

Designed with superb pedestrian connectivity, the retail extension is linked to Qiantan Place and the existing mall via underground walkways and elevated skybridges. This nature-led design philosophy extends to Qiantan Place, featuring two premium Grade-A office towers – namely One Qiantan Place and Two Qiantan Place – spanning a GFA of approximately 125,600 sqm.
